Christmas tree top sections
Round 1. Begin with a chain of 4,
Treble crochet into the first chain,
(continue to make stitches into the same chain)
chain 1, 4 treble crochet,
chain 1, 4 treble crochet,
chain 1, 4 treble crochet,
chain 1, 2 treble crochet,
slip stitch into the top of the 1st treble crochet to join and slip stitch into the chain 1 space.
Round 2. Chain 3, treble crochet in the same space,
*Treble crochet between the posts,
Treble crochet, chain 1 treble crochet in the chain 1 space,
Repeat from * finish with slip stitching in between the chain 3 and first treble crochet stitch.
Round 3 - 5. Repeat round 2 to make the egg cosy sized tree (8 stitches on each side of the square, total 32 stitches)
Round 3 - 8. Repeat round 2 to make the tree with the face on it (11 stitches on each side of the square, total 44 stitches)
Round 3 - 11. Repeat round 2 to make the larger topped tree (14 stitches on each side of the square, total 56 stitches).
Tree trunks.
For the egg cosy and the larger topped tree, the first round is a reduction round.
Egg cosy.
Round 1. Join in between the posts on the left side of a corner (chain 1 section) this chain counts as a stitch.
Treble crochet in between the next 2 posts, skip the next,
Treble crochet in between the next 3 posts, skip the corner,
*Treble crochet in between the next 3 posts, skip the next,
Treble crochet in between the next 3 posts, skip the corner,
Repeat from * finish with slip stitching between the beginning chain 3 and first treble of the round and slip stitch in between the next two posts.
(Total 24 stitches)
Round 2. Chain 3, treble crochet between the posts, finish with slip stitching between the beginning chain 3 and first treble of the round and slip stitch in between the next two posts.
Round 3 - 8. Repeat round 2.
For the larger topped tree.
Round 1. Join in between the posts on the left side of a corner (chain 1 section) this chain counts as a stitch.
Treble crochet in between the next 5 posts, skip the next,
Treble crochet in between the next 6 posts, skip the corner,
*Treble crochet in between the next 6 posts, skip the next,
Treble crochet in between the next 6 posts, skip the corner,
Repeat from * finish with slip stitching between the beginning chain 3 and first treble of the round and slip stitch in between the next two posts.
(Total 48 stitches)
Round 2. Chain 3, treble crochet between the posts, finish with slip stitching between the beginning chain 3 and first treble of the round and slip stitch in between the next two posts.
Round 3 - 8. Repeat round 2.
For the tree that has the face.
Round 1. Repeat round 2 of the tree top section, this will increase the stitches to 48 in total.
Round 2 - 14. Chain 3, treble crochet between the posts, finish with slip stitching between the beginning chain 3 and first treble of the round and slip stitch in between the next two posts.
If you want to make the circle for the nose, chain 4, 11 treble crochet into the first chain, slip stitch to join and use tail ends to sew to the trunk.
I have used safety eyes and trimmed the point of with nail clippers to prevent them from ripping the toilet roll.
You need to make two of the above for each tree you make and sew them together before adding the leaves.
Bunting leaf sections to sew to the tree tops.
*Chain 6,
Slip stitch/single crochet in second chain from the hook,
Double crochet in the next chain,
Half treble crochet in the next chain,
Treble crochet in the next chain,
Double treble in the last chain.
Repeat from *
You will need to make two sets of the same amount of bunting per round.
You begin adding them to the bottom round of the tree top and work up.
You will put your needle under two posts, work into the middle bit between each bunting section, then put your needle back into the same space you came out of and go under next two posts.
I made the two sets of bunting required per round, sewed them into place and then made the next sets of bunting.
Bunting required for each tree.
Egg cosy.
2 sets of 8, 2 sets of 7, 2 sets of 6, 2 sets of 5, 2 sets of 4.
Larger topped tree.
2 sets of 14, 2 sets of 13, 2 sets of 12, 2 sets of 11, 2 sets of 10, 2 sets of 9, 2 sets of 8, 2 sets of 7, 2 sets of 6, 2 sets of 5, 2 sets of 4.
Tree with face on it.
11, 2 sets of 10, 2 sets of 9, 2 sets of 8, 2 sets of 7, 2 sets of 6, 2 sets of 5, 2 sets of 4.
