Thanks Soo much for the info ....I have a question that I cannot get an answer to.......were stingray bikes still being made in 1982??? And if so what names would they have been????I bought a stingray from an old guy that looked to me was a pretty honest person guy swear he owned this stingray over 30 years ....but it looks like the Black Friday bikes what were sold in 2007 ....he went on about stories with the bike and he seemed like a strait dude to me but I just can't find any info on what bikes were made in the 80's ...if any I don't know ......

But to answer the question, yes there was a stingray in 82, red/yellow or blue/silver. Also a 20" black /yellow tornado. BMX style. Then there was a stingray 2.

How does one tell the differences of codes on a 71 Krate Apple , Lemon, Pea Picker, Cotton Picker or Grey Ghost. What I’m saying is, I have a 5 Speed Krate with an FG date code, but the frame has like an brown primer with grey and white paint on it. G

There's no way of tell what color the bike is or what model was from the serial numbers, Only the month & year. Schwinn used a red rust color primer. Sounds like a Grey Ghost that was painted White. But if you have a bare krate with no paint. Make it what ever you like. 71 is correct year for Grey Ghost.

I have a Schwinn mountain bike with serial number start with TM and for the life of me I cannot identify it anywhere

Mountain bikes were made after 1983. After Schwinn was sold and made by pacific cycles Taiwan. So the date system doesn't apply to these. It's different. Might be able to get a rough idea of year of production by the name.

hi, the thing is, there's just so many models, colors, paint schemes and variations for each year from 1930's to 1983. I would have to do a lot of videos to cover it all. either do it by years, or models. the most important thing is the figure out the date and then we can figure out the rest. but I will consider doing a Schwinn paint video.
