@poppawheelie59 Chicago schwinns didn't use "Y". Sounds like a tiawan schwinn made after Schwinn was sold in 82/83. If they continued with the old system, "Y" could possibly represent 1987. It's hard to date tiawan/ pacific cycle schwinn. There's no data on them.

Nice Chicago classic late 70's. I remember in Junior high when these came out and seeing them at our Schwinn bike shops back in the days. I later in years bought a "cruiser" model from one of our neighbors who had a Men and Woman model. They first was asking $300 each but later dropped them to $150 each. I bought the men's model and my brother bought the woman's. I added a NOS Schwinn springer fork to mine that I bought at a local bike swap for $55.00. I still have it today just newer whitewall tires and seat, Original paint I buffed it out. Been indoors ever since. This was back in 2010,

@GenesisAssets your right. As I previously stated, in multiple videos, I don't know everything. I only know what I like. Which is pretty much stingrays and cruisers. if I miss something, just fill it in. If you have something to add, add it. It's just a rough sketch. Im putting out the basics. These videos are for educating the newcomers, the younger generation. Im putting out what i know, and from there, they can go and do their own research. There's not a lot of collectors that will take the time to help out a newbe with answers. I've seen it. But I am, and if someone has a question, I'm glad to help, and I have responded to pretty much all questions. Truth is the older generation is disappearing or they're quitting the hobby. Along with their knowledge and info. As for me, I don't know how long I'll be doing this. Considering my health issues. Which is why ill be giving lots of stuff away. I just wanna spark interest in the newer generation and keep schwinn history alive, and there is no better way to do it than thru KZbin.

@rogeliobaeza9915 Front Atoms are a lil bit more. front 16in krates & cruisers I've seen them priced around $300-500, rear atoms are a lil more common they go for around 150-200.(75 if your lucky) Same as the front workman. Even tho it's a front, it's still not an Atom. Name makes a difference.

@@Schwinn_Addiction thanks. Do you have any knowledge about Schwinn Cruiser 5 with front Atom drum brake? I have a 1980 Spicy Chestnut Cruiser 5 with the front Atom drum. Not sure if it's original
@Schwinn_Addiction3 ай бұрын
@rogeliobaeza9915 it's an added rare accessory for Cruiser 5. I think the only cruiser that came with a springer was a Cruiser deluxe. The Atom drum was usually used with a springer. Because springers don't have a mount for a caliper. But they do make a bracket that goes on the springer for a caliper.

@@rogeliobaeza9915you were able to customize you bike at the Schwinn dealers when buying a new bike. You can order a different color, add parts and accessories. @Steve-bf2go I think pretty much all chainguards I've taken off, the head and lock washer was facing the front of the chainguard (right) and the nut on backside.
