I am so very impressed by Ms. Benjamin! We need to clone her, quickly! Thank God the children (well, 2/3) have her in their corner!

I love judge lockwood. He really has empathy for the children. I worked with an intensive foster care program and it is similar to what texas is doing. I dont remember the court being involved but we had several programs for the children, foster parents, and when it is allowed biological parents. That was very rare though.

I'm so glad that this is over for this family and that Mom and Dad learned that they cannot be together, and mom learned some life saving methods for dealing with addiction and safety plans. CPS sometimes cannot let go of that bone and are hell bent to "winning" at all cost.

My guess is that the kids therapist lowballed herself on how many children she's helped. She's sweet. I like the insight she provided.

I think both parents in the first case have excellent attorneys representing them. I like to see experienced attorneys advocating for parental rights.

Wow Ms Benjamin likes to talk! She’s in the right profession… talking therapies need more like her .. approachable and happy! Her positive attitude is infectious! But she does use 100 words when 10 would do but I wouldn’t change her.

I cannot understand why cps would not share all information, such as the attic, would not be included in the children’s therapy. Such a shame

But she had the petition in which all that should be listed.

Judge Lockwood should marry Ms. Walker. They would make a great couple! 😊

In Texas are licensed social workers able to provide MH diagnosis?? In most states Diagnosis is outside a LSW scope of work.
@OnTropolis
@OnTropolis 8 ай бұрын
Yes, they're required to have a master's and are able to independently diagnose but they can't prescribe medication, they would have to refer to a psychiatrist for meds. That's the case in most states, it varries on number of hours before licencing and what qualifications allow to bill for diagnosis
@daisym8373
@daisym8373 8 ай бұрын
In Michigan even limited licensed social workers can diagnose (depending on the insurance). Because insurances need a diagnosis in order to bill a claim, meaning they (insurances) expect a diagnosis in the first session. The "adjustment disorder" the first social worker mentioned is a generic diagnosis we use, usually in order to bill that first session, while continuing to see the client and rule out other possible diagnosis. FYI, if someone comes and says, "I've been diagnosed as bi-polar" we can't just believe them unless we see the documentation from a credible source and that documentation is less than a year old. (Sorry, probably more info than you wanted)

Who’s doing all the huffing and puffing while the children’s therapist is talking
@djjones7226
@djjones7226 8 ай бұрын
I heard that, as well. It was mom's attorney..he actually put his face in his hands a couple of times while making pissy huffing sounds. He definitely came across as an arrogant @$$.. especially when he was questioning Ms Benjamin, the children's therapist.

Because this GAL is asking the therapist questions that are not relevant to the motion at hand and wasting his and the courts time. I almost threw my phone myself.

And just after 1:21:00 Ms. Benjamin is talking about whoopings and laughs when she says the child is “in bed with Uncle Wes…” What?! Please tell me I heard that wrong!! At about 1:45:00 Attorney Walker does speak to that… but Ms. Benjamin only talks about the whoopings, not that the child is in bed with Uncle Wes.

The first provider doesn’t sound like she is providing therapy, more of just teaching classes. I thought individual therapy was in plan to help the parent work on themselves with emotions, communication, and processing. Setting them up to be successful parents.

@@kirstenstrobel4387I thought the same thing I thought I was super weird with all the giggling and also reading the notes word for word. Instead of taking a moment to refresh her Memory and then testify. And instead of just answering question she goes off track for a story time.

Anyone think it was a little odd when the girls therapist would keep giggling like when she said the little girl was in bed with uncle wes and she would get whooping and she giggled. I don’t find and of this testimony worth giggling about 🤔

The judge told her to also not read from the notes and she read them word for word. To only refresh her memory and testify. Thought she had 10 years experience
