Part 1 Kershaw Dividend knife "sharpening" total disaster.

Some days, you really wish that you would have stayed in bed. Today is one of those days. This Kershaw Dividend folding knife was sent to me for a simple action tune, and blade polish. The bevel side to side was over 6 degrees off, and all over the place. Also guessing a build up of DLC coating is making my life interesting, never seen it before, didn't even know it was possible. Had to break this up, since it went from a 20 minute quickie, to a complete reprofile. Follow along, it's sure to be entertaining.

mine was like this when I got it, wouldn't flip open properly. spent about 10 minutes breaking it in and now it is smooth as butter- the action is stronger than my leek.

The action bar on this one was broken in half, it was really odd.

As far as the edge angle, I’d like my knife to come from the factory with an even bevel. That being said I sharpen free hand on different stones and mediums, so it’s not a big deal for me.

I tried freehand for a couple of years, and I’m far more consistent on the KME. It takes talent, and some art to master freehand, and I, don’t have enough of either.

D2 is a semi stainless. I live in Florida and have no problems witj d2 if you take care of it decently you will not have issues with d2.. cpm d2 like this knife has is less prone to corrosion then ingot formed d2.

It’s not as complicated as you make sharpen til burr flip sharpen to burr the touch it in.

I have this issue with a spyderco sage 1... did you ever get this knife to a point you were satisfied or did you ultimately have to send it in?

This knife has several videos, turns out, the tension bar for the open action was broken on half. Kershaw was great about it, and mailed out the parts the next day.

I’ve had the speed safe mechanism not fling the blade out as-well on my Kershaw leek. Just needed a little oil after cleaning and flung out like it should.

It is supposed to be, if you look at the breakdown video, the spring bar was broken in half. Lol pretty fancy!

Occasionally, the torsion bar (the assisted mechanism) can break, but the good news is that we offer free replacement torsion bars! All someone has to do is submit a parts request on our website.

I think u go a defect, kershaw has a warrenty, u might be able to get a new one for free
