I did exactly what he said, it worked for a while but the bullets kept on getting stuck. I called Hornady and they told me that I had to purchase some kind of lubricant because the two collets in the Hornady Bullet Feeder scrap off material off the bullets. I use coated bullets. I called Hornady the sent me two new collets. I didn't polish the collets and the bullets still stuck. It's a good design but it needs to be perfected in order for bullets can be fed. There's one more thing that was not mentioned in the video. The belling of the case has a lot to do with the bullet feeding. I tried to increase the belling it almost damaged my bullet seater die because the belling was too much. I would not recommend the bullet feeder.

It's a piece of crap. I did everything the video said to do and it still didn't work. Don't waste your money.

Interesting, i assume it will work with round nose, how about lswc or truncated Lead bullets. Probably need to size all boolits to .452 prior to use ?

Karwarth-Kustoms, I use .451 45 acp coated bullets. Will the coated bullet work without having to do any polishing?. The bullet fell right through collet "B". When I tried collet "A" it fell to a certain point inside collet "A" and stopped. There's an inside ring in collet "A". I do believe coated bullets will work. I would sugest trying with stock size first and make sure to use the directions on adjustments before polishing any materials off. Just remember if you polish material off its diameter so for example if you take half thousands off it totals 1 thousands.. so aleays try stock size first and only remove what you need and go slow and take your time, cant add material if you take to much..dont rush it.

@@KarwathKustoms I tried just dropping on coated through the collet it worked. But I have tried using the Bullet Feeder yet. I'm going to try it today. I'll let you know how it worked.

I had to polish both collets like you said in your video. It did take time, but it did work. I tested about 50 coated bullets the bullet feeder worked perfectly. Thanks for the help. Great vid.

Can you post a video on how to set up this bullet feeder? I cant get mine to work with 9mm FMJ.

They sell a .357 die. Would that be best for 9mm lead bullets? Since they're .356? And would that still work for jacketed 9mm bullets that are .355?

@isamu1921 Thats a good point for others to know isamu! I should of stated that in the video, test your cast bullets first in the feeder die first before any modifications...

I showed a method as a low cost way to make a rigid bullet tubes feed system..clear tube is great to use if you can find clear rigid pipe/tube at your local stores...most the time your not going to, and if you price clear its not cheap...I do believe they call it "cast acrylic tube"

My 38/357 squizes flared case and made it almost impossible to use...

I have the 9mm die and use moly bullets which are bigger than the 355 jacketed. If the bullet drops freely through collet A, does that mean too much got polished?

from what you are explaining, yes..the first collet acts as fingers it grips the bullet with some force until the second collet is push up buy a pistol to expand it to allow it to drop and as the case lowers collet (a) will then regrip the next bullet..always test your bullet feeders before any polish work is done to see if it needs.. most do but very little..im talking .001 to maybe max .002 and if you work with metals that not much..

I think too much got polished from Collet A, here a link to a pic. i.imgur.com/tzMaFHql.jpg The bullets are 356 and the collet is 355 so really a dremel was needed but just 400 grit probably. Read adding foil or closing it with pliers might help. Gonna have to tinker and if all else call Hornady and see if a collet can be bought.

I may have to update a new video with more details on the bullet feeder how it works what part that needs polished and so on..I have been getting a lot of questions on this. and from what ive heard you cant just buy replacement collets so you really have to pay close attention to details when doing these. Only problem is I don't have any bullet feeders that are not modified..and hate to buy one to show and then it sits.

I didn't have any problems using 200gr SWC lead cast bullets. No modifications needed.

Why not just use a 1/2" clear tube?...that's what I do, friend~
