How to service a Shimano Fishing Reel with anti-reverse problems. Cleaning and lubricating.....
I would have included everything in one video, but I decided to break it into sections because the video would be way too long. I really spent a lot of time taking this reel apart, and it was done very carefully. I am very meticulous about my things and I wanted to make sure I would be able to put it all back together, in case I was not able to fix the antireverse.

I bought my 2001GT Plus in Dallas on 5/17/1986. Moved back to Tampa in 87. Hardly used it kept a sock over it in the garage, never serviced it. I have taken all the way apart many many spin cast but never a bait cast, so yesterday i uncovered it tried to cast it, the buttons the fighting drag the reverse or flippin lock the tension dial all did not work well and in some cases not at all, could not cast it really. So with the help of the orginal instruction manual for the first time i opened it up and kept going until every single part was removed. Greased and oiled where applicable after wd40 flush out the grease that turned into wax, did the same thing to the level wind section, even the complete drag where the instructions say "don't take this apart if you are an ordinary consumer" lol. Took some pictures of parts and box etc. I even used same vintage era South Bend grease with Teflon and Penn Oil. Outside casting works great having fun with it, looking forward to using it again this week!

Good tip is use the right #2 or 3 Phillips. Always keep track of what little things do. speciallly gears. Take pictures of each step.

My frien fished one off and currently refurbishing.all screws came off with easy.moderate lub. And small hit 2 screws

Never made part 4. These videos are very time consuming especially when you have a lot of small parts and steps. Editing takes forever. There wasn't much of an interest in repairing this reel because I guess there are not a lot of people still using them. I still use mine, however. Maybe, I will continue where I left off one of these days.
