Awesome video Ric! I absolutely love this puzzle image, but my goodness it looks super hard. Knowing myself, I would've worked on the sky last 😅but at least you got that part over and done with in the beginning. Hope your new video schedule works out better for you, and super congrats on over 5k subscribers!!!🥳🥳🙌🙌

It's slow and steady wins the day. 😊 Taking your time with a puzzle like this is better than trying to be quick with it. If I have a puzzle like that I do short stints, go away and come back to it later. Good daylight also really helps. Some of these old Waddington puzzles have some interesting shapes to their pieces which can help with putting them together. Lots of helpful hints and tips on doing these types of jigsaws which is very welcome. Look forward to seeing the next session.

We’re in the same page, Puzzlepiece. I started this one in November and literally just finished it. 😂 i took the approach of doing it just a few minutes at a time as i didnt want to end up feeling like this was a chore, instead i ended up loving it so much i might do it again in the future. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the puzzle and the few tips here and are looking forward to the rest of it. Cheers!

Lovely puzzle. I noticed you are working on it in natural lighting, I'm sure that helped also with the muted colors...again very interesting that you also show us the real buildings.. , I enjoyed seeing you try several pieces to find the right one. most time lapse videos makes it appear that every piece is picked up and put in the correct spot, I enjoyed you looking also.. and in close to real time.... I just noticed you are up to over 5000 subscribers...High Five to you!!!!!
@RicPuzzles9 ай бұрын
Hi Kathy and thanks for the positive feedback. High five back at you. Yep i only ever use natural light, i can only do puzzles before sunset otherwise i just cant see the pieces well, and because i cannot lean over the puzzles (im prohibited by my doctor 😂) i work on puzzles when i can see them well naturally. Tried all sorts of lighting systems but the glare is an issue. Also nice to hear you enjoyed the trial and error here. I will probably slow down even more on next video part 2, if viewers are in a hurry they can just skip to what they like. I learned so much about Chester through this that it would be a crime not to mention the real locations 😁

Vintage Waddingtons are one of my favourites alongside vintage Falcon Deluxe. I've just completed an early Waddingtons 70's qualitex circular puzzle and am blown away by how amazing the quality is, it feels new, it's really stood the test of time. Puts some modern puzzle quality to shame.
@RicPuzzles9 ай бұрын
Hi there! We are on the same page then! every time i get an old waddingtons i just cant believe how good they feel, the images are stunning and well printed, i know most are 1.2mm thick, on the very thin side if compared to some new ones, but they still hold quality far superior than many new ones coming out indeed! A circular puzzle from the 70s? Sounds fascinating! Do you mind sharing the name? Just curious to see what the picture looks like! Thx 😁

Hi Ric, oh my giddy aunt! Chester, it’s a beautiful city, my sister lived there for a few years and if you ever get to go you must do Eastgate Street. Roman in origin. Made me homesick ha! I recently got my hands on a 1991 (I think) 4000 piece secondhand Waddingtons puzzle titled feast day by P Breughel. Apparently the original painting is titled The Kermesse of Saint George (from 1628 I believe). I am so glad it has so little sky compared to this one. I can not wait to start mine, but will wait for you to finish yours to see all the tips and tricks you have to offer.
@RicPuzzles9 ай бұрын
Hi Izebelle, A 4000 waddingtons, fascinating! know exactly the painting you are referring to, such a beautiful painting. And now a large puzzle - that is definitely worth solving! as an art historian i go absolutely bonkers about fine art painting puzzles, i just got a 3000 Breughel’s too, the painting is called Netherlandish proverbs but on the box of this puzzle it is called ‘village activities’ from 1984 🧩 i think you will enjoy part 2 of this video and hope i can be helpful. Cant wait to hear more details about your endeavours with the Breughel puzzle! Happy puzzling and thx for leaving a comment, thats really nice.

Another great video Ric. I’m only an hour away from Chester so the modern street this is based on is familiar to me. The pieces here looked a bit thin compared to modern jigsaws. Did you find this, too?
@RicPuzzles9 ай бұрын
Hello mate thats so cool, im sure you had a ‘wow i know this place!’ sort of moment here, thats very nice! Indeed this is very thin, but most waddingtons are sadly very thin even though the picture and the pieces are quite solid. I cant complain but i would definitely have thicker board myself if i had a choice.
