Using the right subtle music and beautiful editing, you have made a rainy cycle touring trip look fantastic! as someone who's been caught out myself on a few occasions I can appreciate the trials & tribulations that come with cycling all day in the rain and camping at night in it! I just hope your poor chains and gears recovered/replaced after all that! another perfect video Keith - thanks! :)

Super, was bike camping in Scotland last week. A lot of wind and rain, I baled after 4 days, you have my respect.

Well to be honest we kept expecting the summer weather to return. When it did it was only for a day and a half at the most. I grew up in Yorkshire so we are both habituated to rain and thick headed.

It never fails to surprise me the quantity and quality of abandoned properties in Japan. There's so much good stuff left behind but an upright piano in tune? Abandoned properties in Australia is a rare occurrence and really only happened about or more than 100 years ago when farmers left their homes on marginal farmlands but took everything with them. Most business properties that fail are simply repossessed and sold off by the banks as we have enough properties already damaged/written off by floods and bushfires. I guess this kinda thing happening in Japan shows how bad rural decline is.

Yes, no one wants to move into the countryside and the younger generation typically go to a city for university and never go back. Even amazing places like Tazawako have abandoned hotels and restaurants etc. I'd love to live in a rural place but you can't teach an old dog new tricks! Thanks gain for the coffees!

@@waddo Originally from Melbourne city I now live in a rural place(Leongatha) and have been for about 20years. Love the fresh air, green hill views, cheap rent, dont miss the traffic and high crime rate (house burgulary and bicycle thieving) of the big smoke but it really has to be practical to live here, in other words you need a job. I'm now self employed hoping to survive till retirement and will only go back to city living to gain employment. Covid has seen many city slickers flock to the country as they now have adapted to working at home- saving heaps of $ in business overheads and the buying of cheaper rural properties. They've unknowingly helped to contribute to inflation as they're cashed up and spend big :)

@@robertdavey2660A bit shocking reading your catalogue of city crime. Tokyo may no be paradise but the honesty of the people and basic safety here makes it livable and enjoyable.
