I was a truck mechanic for 50 yrs. I was just busting to get in there and have a go, then thinking that's not the best way and fidgeting while watching you. In the end, job is done and you are on the way to success.

As a supplier to many, many truck and farm fleets over 25 years, it occurred to me that you need to introduce a scheduled maintenance program , to routinely check service items and not use the old fix it when it’s broken, machinery is the life blood of your business, or any business, when it fails you waste time and possibly even risk injury . That’s my 2 bobs worth. Good video. Not too many F bombs in this one 👍

It's better on the budget sometimes to go past service times 😂 that being remote

Oh that cotter pin was frustrating! Glad he persevered though, it was in a pain of a spot!

🎉 good watching you guys get stuck into it. I get the feeling that there was not a lot of preventative maintenance done on equipment with the previous owners. Might be good time to start and give Ant something to do in his free time 😅😅. Also I think you should hive a weather update at the start of each video. It's a cool day, only 38 degrees, with 10% humidity, and the fly rating is 6/10.....lol. Keep up the good work, and it's very comfortable in my lounge.

Hope you read this , many years saving the world in mining industry…. Cut a flogging spanner out of 1/2 inch plate with an Oxy . And keeping some wedges handy to pop out pin 👍👍 Love your work , . I drive around with a hundred grand worth of tools … and still cut and make spanners regularly 👍👍👍

Yeah definitely good having some 1/2 plate around! That's a great solution, we've done it a few times for some odd size axles. Cheers for the suggestion! Glad you're enjoying it.

keep the old metals parts you can redo them you can buy a 2 part stuff you can make a carboard mold to repour them and they will be way better than before they do this to racing cars and so on. i think smooth on makes the products for this for about 60$ Canadian you can redo them all .
@Ifyouarehurtnointentwasapplied Жыл бұрын
If all else fails a oxy set takes off broken parts quickly 👍👏and makes a good spanner

First cameo from Danny? It would be nice to know his story. He might be camera shy? I also think you were removing a split pin and not a cotter. A cotter pin to my understanding is a round pin with one tapered flat side that you find in a bicycle pedal crank although even Bunnings call split pins cotter pins so now I am not sure.? Another great video showing the difficulties of maintaining equipment in a remote area.
@jack_out_the_back Жыл бұрын
Split pins is a bit board, but I guess it comes down to the background of the user (like monkey wrench v stilson v pipe wrench) As a split pin also refers to a roll pin, as it is split into two pieces. The technical manuals refer to it as a cotter pin. Yeah Danny is a bit shy, but he does get in front of the camera later on.

known as both a cotter and split pin in Australia, also a split pin is known as a roll pin so it a bit pedantic to get hung up on that
