My buddy was just telling me about this set up and was wondering if it would affect the grouping, great video brother

From a single range session, I think it does well without affecting grouping...only shift of impact. I like it.

@@GearsAndGuns I hear you. It is easier to set up than the traditional one i have been using. Saves me time if doing only rifle testings. Pistols...the old chrony will come out.

Hey brother, hope you're doing well. YT gods hid your last 2 from me. I was always interested in trying out one of these but not sure if it could be used for testing pistol loads. Looks pretty useful for rifles. Thanks for sharing! PS - what kinda load are you using for those 175 SMKs?

Hi there, I hear you on the tube not showing subscribers the latest. I would think it is not suitable for a service type handgun. Maybe those long barrel revolver types. On the main box under "SPECIFICATIONS" it reads "Centerfire rifles only...Barrel diameters from .5"-1"...Muzzle devices less than 2.7" in length...No suppressors". Under those 175 grain SMKs, it is Shooter's World Match Rifle contained in Hornady brass with Federal #210 primers.

@@andyprairiedog Awesome, thanks for the details on the chrono, I"ll probably just stick with the one I have until I shoot it 🤣I just grabbed some 168 and 175s SMKs and have an 8lb jug of Match Rifled I've been needing to break into. No Hornady Brass but Fed primers and brass should be a good match.

Just bought one of these to do an actual load test. I’m using the cortina method so grouping is pointless for load tests and it’s easy to transport. Checks all the boxes for me.

Sounds good. Tools are designed for each person's way of using them. I now tend to fine tune after using this chronograph to try and find all my avenues of approach. That's what I like about reloading...tweek here and there in safe methods and find different results in most scenarios. I'll try the Cortina Method too. This Mr. Erik Cortina? Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

@@andyprairiedog worked like a dream. Didn’t miss a shot. I’m a newer reloader and use Erik cortina’s method because it seems far more simplified to understand and get good results. Only thing I’d like is to use less components. It’s going to take me 60 rounds to get to what I’m going to stick with.

Pretty cool, I guess it wouldn't work with a suppressor? I'm guessing probably not?

what does it matter if the impact is shifted a small amount. The goal is to collect ballistic speeds to apply them with the weight of the bullet to create a BC you can plug into a range finder to get constant shooting results; Its not like you're hunting with this tool mounted.
@andyprairiedog

I sure am going to hunt with this device attached. If the animal runs toward me because of the impact shift and I miss...I can still use it like a bayonet. Hunt smart, dude 😆

Both cartridges were my own reloads for steel shooting. .223 was 77 grain Sierra Match Kings, the .308 was 175 grain Sierra Match Kings. I'm working on some 168 grain Tipped Match Kings for the .308. I have no problem letting my friends send some down the barrel to some steel or paper punching. I need to make a video of some steel shooting again.
