Should clarify the missions part: A voiced human wouldn't give you these, you choose them and your PDA would set you up. And you'd send resources via mayyyybe a rocket, or scan certain things etc. You would be rewarded with resources or company credits to order whatever you want. Decor, recourses, etc. Follow me on Twitch! It's free, it helps me, and theres no reason not to! twitch.tv/MonikaCinnyRoll What do YOU think Subnautica 2 needs? Which part did you find most interesting in the vid? :0

It needs a giant submarine that requires multiple people to pilot it efficiently. With 4 people, you can have 4 different tasks that can be done at once. Person 1 pilots the ship, person 2 coordinates everything with a holo map of the terrain and various control panels, person 3 refuels the generator and stocks the launch tubes of any decoy or torpedo deployables, and person 4 repairs any leaks or damage. Or you technically could pilot it solo, but you would need a lot of multitasking

Balance between co-op and solo mode! The first game has a huge loneliness feel to it which is great, but I'm afraid thta will be lost when playing together with someone and if the game will be built with o-op in mind that could cause even solo play to lack that original lonely feel. Oh yeah and official VR support! Diving games are the best in VR!

@@tpd1864blake A submarine where different people have to manage different systems or tasks is a really cool idea, but I worry that it would create an unfair and unnecessary disadvantage to people who are playing in singleplayer, or even for a team of 2 or 3 players.

100% agree with your thoughts on the vehicles, we NEED another giant submarine like the cyclops. I'm a sucker for mobile bases and it would be so awesome to be able to pilot something like that, especially with your buddies if it ends up being multiplayer. 13:36 - Sons of the Forest was another survival game with the issue of caves being too linear compared to the first game. It was so fun going into the unknown and ending up somewhere you haven't been before if not completely lost, it definitely brings more to the survival genre and I hope Subnautica 2 expands on it.

Im also so in love with moving bases, but what I want more then cyclop in SB2 is the reason to have it in the first place. Cyclop sub was EPIC, but... I crafted it once, swim it to the entrance of Lost river and back to my base in kelp forest and... That's it. It was too large, too slow, too expansive and too hard to research (being the only thing in the game that need to be scanned from separated components), without any role besides just "portable locker room" and barely fitting into any cave where it can be useful. Crab suit with grappling hook and storage upgrade was more useful for me, than cyclop. And it's really sad because i really want to use it. Devs even added Cyclop shield module to the Neptune rocket recipe, to make players build this thing.

4:22 For me it's not even that the large rooms are 'too large', I think they are a beautiful size, but it's the fact that you can't actually fill the space that well with the buildables in base subnautica, but below zero is definitely a bit better in that regard. Having more functional and/or decoration pieces would be an absolute dream

The one thing that I want most in Subnautica 2 is deeper oceans. Below zero felt way too shallow and therefore felt less scary, plus it just felt too cramped. I would love to hear you thought in part 2 later down the line Surprisingly, one of my parts in Subnautica was myrkier waters in kelp forests, environments aren't always crystal clear and creatures are messy, but most importantly - it really feeds into that primal stimuli of not knowing what's in front of you - and that's why we are so excited and scared about deep oceans, isn't it?

So glad there's another person out there that that remembers not just the old alpha items and scrapped builds, but also the lore and story we never got to see. Running a cyclops through the inactive lava zone entrance in front of the aurora had such an amazing atmosphere that it gave my teenage self nightmares for months. These games, their potential, and what we never got are my brain rot. Also unknown worlds please please please don't mess up the DNA splicing mechanic in 2, that was my favorite cut idea in the original game

I want for Subnautica 2 to have expandable data base. What I mean by that. In original Subnautica you just scanning fish and getting information about it in the PDA and that’s all. I want to have possibilities to, let’s say, scan fish for overall information, scan genetics of this fish to get more information about it, for example relationships with other species, and observe this fish (in wild or containment) to get more information about behaviour of this species, and add all of that to my PDA. So I have more motivation to interact with this world.

I think Ben Prunty’s soundtrack fit Below Zero better than more of the same from Simon Chylinski. The touches of industrial and psytrance matched the first game, where the map was literally scarred by human technology. Below Zero feels more natural, as it should, and the brighter synths match the more cramped, icy environments. I’m also generally sick of people claiming the only thing that went wrong with Below Zero was “going woke.”

One of the (few) things I liked about below zero was that ship that is completely overgrown and overlooking an abyss (the mercury i think). The atmosphere in the game at the moment of randomly discovering it was perfect and it also being a ship completely unrelated to alterra or anyone else we've heard about before added to the mystery of it. I'm really hoping Subnautica 2 will have a couple moments similar to that

The First Subnautica had a lot of lore which got me hooked and not because of the story but the information you can find out about the unknown planet you are on, they utilized the exploration factor of the game to then push out content and create "lore" on it which then made me want to explore more of the content. Then you realize you have to go to the deep dark or you wont progress which added that terror that everyone loves. They didn't force terror on you and everything was just unknown and it was through exploration you discovered what was friendly and was not which is what was missing in Below Zero since you were already accustomed to the idea that deeper = scarier but the main problem was it felt cramped and vibrant. Personally they should add proximity chat or radio chat that cuts out from a specific distance so that you can laugh and be terrified of the creature that dragged your CO-OP players to and since its multiplayer which can remove the feeling of being alone, it would bring a whole new dynamic to the game. They also need to work on the AI, as having a creature be either neutral or aggressive is kind of predictable and not scary once you know how to overcome them, so having smarter AI that adapt based on conditions will most likely make the game more interesting such as having certain creatures work differently when you are alone or together with someone utilizing the multiplayer aspect of it.

I never played Subnautica myself, but I always passively watched on around its full release and up until around half-way through Below Zero's early access. I'm not afraid of the ocean, nor do I dislike the game's concept, I just... Never played them, so seeing this surge of content around the Subnautica 2 trailer makes me want to get it myself! I think my favorite scrapped concept that would especially get me hyped are terraformed structures. I love the idea that they're not even ancient buildings that have been eroded away or covered in mud and sand, they're just feats of massive, skyscraper-scale terraforming. Crude, sure, but it still makes you wonder what sort of beings could form structures out of the very rock and stone that makes up the ocean floor... Also Early Access Precursors were Parkour Civilization Earthbenders and I think that's hilarious

Definitely some of the best Subnuatica takes I have seen out there. The only thing I really disagree with is the mission ideas, while I think it maybe could of worked for Below Zero given it being a spin off and all it's story components I really wouldn't have liked that in the first game and based on the info on Subnautica 2's steam page about you not knowing where or why you are on the planet I don't think it would work (I'm also just not the biggest fan of markets in games)

The biggest thing for me is the interactions with one of the most integral parts of the game, in my opinion. The Leviathans. And I think the environment plays a decent part in this aswell, because in Below Zero the Shadow Leviathans just felt like obstacles that you had to wait for to move so you can progress not really being very fun or scary to interact with past your first run in. And the Iceworm was just an unavoidable pest that would knock you off the vehicle literally designed for the area you were in every 5 seconds. But like I mentioned before I think the environment plays a role. Leviathans in the first game still to this very day make me need to change pants. Hearing the ear-shattering roar from a reaper in the vast sandy depths with limited visibility. Or seeing the enourmous blue eel dart out of the inky abyss at you full speed where you can physically feel the ocean floor drop unfathomably deep beneath your feet. I'm not saying I think we shouldn't have tight spaces to weave through and intricate landscapes, I'm just saying the terrifying creatures that lurk in them should be skilled monstrous predators in their home environment and make you absolutely certain you aren't in a safe place anymore, smacking you in the face with that feeling of absolute 100% panic. That's what made the biggest impact on me in the first game, but hey I'm simple mf I run into big monster that makes me fall off my chair and start crying, I think hell yeah that was so cool through my tears.

I love this. I been playing Subnautica when it came out in 2014/15 when I was 8; now I'm 18 and have over 1k hours over a couple of accounts. know the game inside and out to the point of knowing where each outcrops spawn at to the extent point and been here for all of the updates, changes, drama, and the fan works. I love your video, and I agree with most of your points (trading will probably lead to a missing isolated feel) I'm really happy for the new creatures AI because the old lead dev said that he wanted to add more ecology and behavior to the game and you can change the ecosystem like you plant some creepvine In front of your base, fish that lived or migrated would come to your base, and it would cause bigger fish like stalker to come and hunt or to lay their eggs, and you change the ecology like that, but something happened to him that I can't remember. They did say they wanted to expand that to not a sim but feel like it. I also like how you talked about BZ. I didn't really like it; it felt small and they slow you down so you would think the map is bigger (didn't work; you just feel slow) unfished map, game design felt a bit off, story was just rusted with stuff we wanted but never got, and most importantly, they went for more of a sci-fi and alien look than horror that I fell in love with and too much voice acting. I aways like when someone who has been playing as long as me that loves the game and knows it in and out. you just really warm my heart :)

I would like them to add a Uber endgame type leviathan that patrols something like the void and really takes skill to kill the and if you manage to kill him you are able to get him as a pet or fabricate a lil copy of his ass (Someone made a concpet: Behavior (lore) - Extremely rare, asexually reproducing leviathan class creature. Only returns to shallower areas in order to take care of its' young, taking multiple years for them to reach maturity. Usually acts as a sort of large symbiont or parasite to larger creatures, providing warmth with its' unnatural heat generation but also sucking blood from its' prey to survive. Excess bioluminescent cells from its' prey are used for its' own bioluminescence. Behavior (game) - Patrols its' nest, a suspended pile of mud and sticks. If a player gets close to the nest, it immediately locks on their position and charges them relentlessly. In the nest are its' children. Only one of this leviathan exists, and it does not respawn naturally. When attacking, it charges at the player in hit-and-run tactics. Stats - High health (~10,000). Each strike skewers your vehicle, dealing ~66 damage to vehicles and ~90 damage to an unarmoured player, instakilling with an animation if the player is below 75% HP. Attacks somewhat slowly. 15m/s speed. ~65m long, ~20m wide. Cannot EMP the player. Temperature raises slightly in vicinity to the creature. Appearance - Large, flat back, with two divots where there may once have been eggs. Has a proboscis on the lower side, which it uses to stab threats or prey. Behind the proboscus is a small mouth, used for devouring smaller prey. Dark blue topsection, extremely dark red underbelly, vibrant magenta bioluminescence on the eyes, which are located on the sides and front. Yellow bioluminescence on the tip of the tail. Large trailing tendrils behind egg-divots, with spotted bioluminescence patches lining the sides of said tendrils. Location - Just before the crater edge. Because I don't know the biomes of Subnautica 2 I'll say it's a small area with mostly small prey creatures, similar to the crystal caves but not in a cave and less claustrophobic. Upon entering the larger area, the PDA informs the player of a nest and its' parent, advising them not to get close to the nest. Once near or inside the nest, the PDA asks the player to evacuate quickly for their own safety, and once the parent is killed the PDA suggests entering the (now safe) nest in order to research its' interior. Reward - The creature becomes more aggressive the closer you are to its' nest. If it catches you while you are far away, it is mostly peaceful, but if it catches you inside the nest it will attack with even higher-than-usual speed and damage, oneshotting the player if they are outside of a vehicle no matter their armour. Scanning the creature provides a recipe for a plushie. Inside of its' nest is a multitude of materials, some scannable fragments, and three juviniles. These juviniles will run away from the player while their parent is still alive, but approach once the parent is killed, and can be picked up. Once re-released, they act similarly to a tripod or cuddlefish, with the added benefit of growing to 1/3 of the parents' size and defending wherever they are released from wild non-passive entities (Think bonesharks, other leviathans, ect.).Can be played with, though it is quite awkward once they grow to larger sizes. Additionally, the scannables within the nest are exclusive to said area, and is used for a major upgrade for all vehicles, being effectively an on-board toggleable terrain scanner, functioning exactly the same way as a real terrain scanner and using a menu to select what the player wants to scan for. Also, obviously, shows terrain as a hologram, the hologram being located in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Bless him, he made it to lost river and noped right out. I can only really wish for more off-the-beaten-path oddities. More trinkets for the base-desk, weird glowy bits to throw around. the place is alien, right? I wouldn't mind more ways to display that. Tho, I haven't played in years and haven't touched sub-zero, so maybe I'm covering something that's always been there and just can't remember. Cheers for the vid. I feel like the perfect way to use the mission/quests suggestion is to give us a Precursor teleporter. (We already have a teleporter in Below Zero so it shouldnt be that hard for it to be implemented, maybe the PDA would give us the blueprint after scanning some Alien Structurers} Maybe it'd be something like a net going through an underwater moonpool or a structure similar to a moonpool in The Precursor base on the gun island, having a portal as its floor that could be activated. It would serve as a way to teleport a whole vehicle and a person in it to a set location (It would also give us more ways to enter some places as you said at the last segment) The way it would work is that you could set the location to an already discovered Precursor Base/Warp Gate and with Alterra it'd be like sending mail, you choose the location from ur PDA send it to their closest location available which could be something like a satelite a ship near the Planet itself or even a warpgate which would award you with desired items, maybe something like food drops, new decorations like posters or blueprints for some new base designs and furniture.

Still watching the vid but on the Vehicle Segment and Base Building. This game is Multiplayer, So bigger subs and Bigger Vehicles will have to be in it, Of course it's oiptional for Multiplayer but it's has to be included somehow. You have one off exlploration and a massive Group effort needing a massive Sub to operate in. Same thing for Building Bases More variety and personalality has to be made for Multiplayer asspects, and Possibly More versatilty in gadgets or Base deffences. (maybe even a Camera/Secruity System to monitior outside Factors!!) I used to make a bunch of scanner drones and use them as surveillance in hostile areas, so maybe that could be a thing?

peak video a random idea i have is that if they want to create horror, a cool way to do it is to wait to reveal its identity. example in below zero, the shadow leviathan was kinda scary but appeared almost immediatley as i entered the cave right after the pda warns me. a really good way to make horror is really subtle foreshadowing that slowly builds up tension until the big reveal. for example; you enter a cave or deep biome. theres time to take in the scenery, but a little bit after entering you'll notice some subtle signs of a leviathan, maybe damage on the terrain or bits of deceased animals (but not as in a huge corpse pile, just something thatll arouse suspicion but will at best stay in the back of your mind), and the pda might point out something that implies a threat instead of just saying "expect a leviathan". as you go deeper, the smaller creatures become more sparse, and more quiet (theres a human fear response involved with ambient animals going silent as it can mean a predator is near). then, you could hear the distant or muffled sounds of a leviathan, not exactly screeches but grumbling or the sounds of movement that sound like theyre coming from something large. as you keep going deeper (likely just being enticed by useful scannable fragments so only half your attention is on looking out), you could maybe see the leviathan moving just barely out of your view, maybe if you have a light going into the dark you'll faintly see a bodypart move past. all these things happen with lots of time between them to build tension but not yet guarantee the threat or at least its identity and then eventually, the big reveal when it comes out after all the tension being built and scares the crap out of you.

Those are few wishes I've also posted in the discord, which I hope they'll reach out to both fans and developpers alike. Enjoy reading. Wishlist: - I would like to see an conveyor belt system and a pipe system which could help to transport very large amount of resources, liquids and gases. - This could go hand in hand with some deep / underground resource nodes, which could be extracted with the help of various extractors. Those nodes could generate 100x more resources than those we can mine with the help of the mechs for example, should be very rare, very hard to get to and pretty well defended by aggresive flora and fauna, to make the extraction worth the risks. A small resource balancing might be required in this case. Reason? Late game grinding could become quite tideous, especially if you want to build a relatively large base in every unique biome you can find. Having a system which could bring in some extra resources automaticaly could help a lot. - Multiple room and corridor shapes. For example square and round connectors. Diagonal connectors, different angle connectors such as 135 degrees for example. Rooms with various heights. - Ability to connect bases situated at different heights or angles with curved corridors. - Multiple types of aquariums, similar to those we've seen in your video at some point. - Larger storage lockers, preferably some which could also be accessed from outside the base. - Industrial containers, which we could use to store a very large amount of a resource. - Snap to grid for furnitures and free placement modes. - Teleportation device which we could build in our bases and submarine and use it for easier travel around various bases. - A trade system which we could use to earn some credits and buy some missing resources or goods. - Drones we could use to harvest resources for us around a certain area. - I would ask too much if we could build a spaceship and we could use it to travel above the water in between different regions of the planet and maybe even towards moons or other planets? - As for vehicles, I am hoping to see again the mechs, maybe a small and a large one. A small submersible which we could use to travel until 500-1000m depths and through crowded caves, a medium sized submarine, which we could use to travel deeper and a large one which we could use to travel across tens and hundreds of kilometers in between different regions of the planet. - I would hope for a much larger map, with lots of empty spaces in between biomes, requesting us to often travel across dead zones and fight and avoid leviathans along the way. - More surface biomes and a serious reason to have a base built there.

I really hope those ruins mean the devs are going to try a different method for story-relevant areas. All the facilities and the Aurora and the wrecks in the first two games are okay, but it's much more thrilling to find important lore or do story-relevant tasks in the water where you can still see the breathtaking scenery and be afraid of drowning and predators - especially if the flora has grown around the ruins and if the ruins get more mazelike. The final Degasi base is my favorite story location in the series, and I'd be overjoyed if the ruins mean that story-relevant areas will be prettier and not sectioned off from all the threats.

This is probably a hot take but I don't want overly large leviathans in Subnautica 2. Having something the size of a Gargantuan Leviathan would kill the sense of scale for the entire game and would make already large creatures look tiny in comparison. I'm fine with leviathans the size of Sea Dragons/Sea emperors but anything larger would stick out too much

It's great to see people researching and theorizing Subnautica 2 and It's features. I'm also in this 'research'. Though, because I don't really have a channel or a way of sharing my knowledge, It'd be wonderful if you read and possibly pin this comment. In Subnautica 1, the first game, we play as Ryley Robinson. A crash survivor and one of the captains of the Aurora. Since he's in such debt to the Alterra company, (My theory) the Alterra has sent him back to 4546B for research and other reasons that might give the company some credit and profit. Subnautica Below Zero on the other hand, We play as Robin Ayou. Not really much is known about her or the reasons she's still in the planet yet, in the trailer, It seems like she decided to stay for some unknown reason. When we compile all the knowledge we have, we can easily make out a lore map and It's safe to say, *Subnautica 2 Is going to be a co-op survival game.*

I don't know if I'm in the minority in thinking I'll probably be more in love with the solo experience, but at the same time I'm also thrilled at the idea of piloting a huge sub with my friends on board yelling at me to turn around before I get us killed. natural disasters with realistic sounds or eerie music . realistic waves and game mechanics , ue5 basically . introduce the creatures , like subnautica did , giving us false sense of safety .The game story should be quiet scary the info from story should be interesting and give us a clue to what exactly should we do or be scared of and add a point to the story when the whole gameplay turns upside down like saying that something is chasing after us . the night should feel like punishment , and finding new rare blueprints should feel like a reward , no info only clues . add ambients and good music , make new biomes feel like a mental challange to go to . make the vechicles a safe yet not safest place instead of way to transport . add ingame voice chat and walkie talkies for multi . Make the map bigger and add some story parts near crater edge so every player has to experience it , add a workbench that we have to put big blueprints in so we can combine it , smth like a crafting table but friends can use it too. Also big thanks that you are so dedicated in the game . i was like 7 when i played it and its still interesting to me .

So I think I may have the reason why Subnautica was so compelling and where Subnautica: Below Zero failed to captivate fans as much as the first. Subnautica has really good progression due to the robustness of its map, and the subversive terror preventing said progression is beautifully balanced to create a literal out of this world first time experience. Subnautica is decently replayable as well because the gameplay holds up well and because there's a lot of stuff to explore and do. Below Zero was a 'safe-bet' smaller scale emulation of the first game with minimal innovation (and you can see how well that paid off). Subnautica 2 should aim to either perfect the robustness of the first games level design, or seek to switch up the design altogether. No doubt they'll build upon the gameplay and the world, but the only concern I have, is for the feel of the game and the attempt to copy Below Zero rather than draw from what made the original game so amazing- that feeling of entering an open area, where you can see nothing below you, distant sounds of something huge in the distance- or the feeling of wonder when you stumble upon the Floating Islands for the first time, or discover the Lost River. The reason why Subnautica is so good: The contrast between wonder and terror is unparalleled. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk about funny fish game.

Creatures you raise which forage with you, protect you. It could even ape a feature of rain world, where you can feed a predator enough, they start to value you as a source of food and not food itself, and will follow you around and protect you. Lots they could steal from rain world, actually. I want small creepy crawlies in the small caves, kelps, and the like. More interesting challenge modes, like starting deep underwater. The entire seabed is a shell, underneath which is a sea going down to get core of the planet. Lifecycles for animals and plants. Eco engineering. Cultivate different life forms in different areas. Gameplay involving visibility not just using darkness but also murkiness. Predators in dangerous areas that do not loudly announce their presence. Currents and waves. Maybe even boats. Whirlpools. More environmental danger. Extreme tidal events that periodically leave swathes of the reef exposed. Large wrecked vehicles leave behind wrecks instead of exploding into nothing. Natural shelters. An invasive species (other than humans). Save the planet, not save yourself (I guess that is half the plot of the original, but wasn’t the motivation) No weapons at all. No way to kill animals violently. Big creatures that grow entirely into a location and remain stationary, and you can enter and explore them (I guess below zero explored this a bit)

I liked the cyclops bc it was management of systems, and it was fun to be attacked in. The problem is it never got attacked for you to use those systems, like fire suppression. Also, you could never reach its max depth unless you went to the depth zone. We need a cyclops-like sub that is designed for diving deep and storing gear.

I think the research system should be more interesting. Imagine you found an unknown material and don't know what are its properties, your handheld scanner can immediately find out its basic properties but for a more in-depth analysis you will need to bring the sample back to an autolab which can find out everything about it and determine what it can be used for, like a source of advance materials or a suitable substitute in a recipe.

honestly, im impressed by this. ive heard a lot about below zeros strange development, but not much about the first games! its interesting that it, too… has things that were strangely cut despite being perhaps better? and, its funny. ive *also* been thinking about making an . extremely long video about sn1 and bz, their great parts and their flaws… especially on how below zeros original story is so clearly still there, with remnants of it… a world designed for that type of story in the first place… i think its a shame they didnt go all in on bz being Different from the first game, instead opting for “lets play it safe and make the situation tense survival again” i do know theyve said they want subnautica 2 to both pay homage and expand on the first game, and be its own thing. like… not needing to play the first game, but still having parts that remind people of the first game i just hope its identity isnt stretched thin, between being one or the other (sn1 again or a wildly new thing) not to say it cant well be a balance of both!

Regarding the story for BZ - I thought it was unfortunate how it had to change so much, but I'm aware the main reason for this is that they changed writers part way through. I enjoyed the new story, but it felt hindered somewhat by fragments of the original story still hanging on, leaving a bunch of threads hanging loose. I'm quite eager to see what they manage to do with Subnautica 2, getting to do the whole story from scratch!

I really need map in Subnautica, need map in Subnautica 2, especially considering that they are promise to make map even bigger. But i never said anything about map just blatantly being here from the start, that's just boring. I want to see. Maybe not even map, but some navigation things. Remember, that we actually had maps in Subnautica one... Kinda. There was one holographic on the sea glider. There's large 3D map in scanning room! It was even possible to create waypoints with it... Again, kinda - room scanning for objects, and projecting them on your diving mask with special chip. There is also that thing that helps you navigating in caves, by placing special marks, and even allowing them to show you direction of the exit. I really would love to see expansions on that things. Make beacon not a portable thing, but actual building with some benefits over portable. Or. Hear me out - underwater roads? Make some deployable or buildable thing, that you can connect to create sequence of marks. They wouldn't create marker on your HUD like beacons do, instead they would work like cave exploring tool, showing the player route to something by light and arrows. They would be really helpful for marking passages for submarines in the cave. For example, when i was building my base in lost river i marked it with beacon. But the thing is - icon on the HUD always showing in the place where it was placed, not showing route to it. And actual entrance to the lost river cave system was in really long distance from the beacon, rendering it completely useless. With what i suggest, it would be fun to mark just the entrance of the cave, and then mark the rest of the route to the base with said "road markers". Again, considering that we are promised bigger map it can be useful in SB2! You can mark routes from one base to another, add helpfull reminder that "at this place you should turn left, even if the beacon signal seem to the right", mark more safe route that is avoiding dangerous bioms. Even help to show the rout to something important to your friends, considering the game is coop now! Maybe even add an option for submarines to swim along said roads on autopilot. Just as idea. You can add something like cartography room for base, that will scan terrain around in upgradeable radius, saving it and sending to the players pda.But if said room lost energy - no more map for you! All that will add new layer to the gameplay - instead of having instant map player will need to develop, expand and maintain infrastructure, important for geolocation and mapping. So much ideas! Maybe some of them really not for Subnautica, but i really sad that i wouldn't see anything like that in the game.

I REALLY wanna see them bring back terrain manipulation. I’ve been a player since the early days too. Since early 2015 I understand that terrain manipulation could bring sequence breaking… but I’m sure there must be ways of limiting that. Even if maybe we just unlock the tool (or creative game mode) that allows us to modify terrain AFTER beating the story, so that sequence breaking into spoiler zones won’t be much of a problem.

Okay so I’m not like the biggest Subnautica fan, but I feel that one of the most important parts of 2’s success (aside from how fun the tadpole will be) is gonna be its leviathans. From the trailer I feel like they’re going to be good, but I’m curious as to what you’d want them to make. I feel like the peaceful leviathan is an obvious must-have but I kinda want them to make something inspired by the Plesiosaur. Just feels like they haven’t really delved into that long-neck shape of creature much. Also idk if you’ve already done this but I’d love to hear all your thoughts on how Below Zero could’ve been better.

Honestly subnautica 1 could get an update in graphics and get re released and I’d still say it would be a great game I got to it pretty late but I immediately put in 7 hours into it and was hooked sadly I really didn’t want to finish it though I ended up finishing it on creative just to see the ending the main gripes I have and I know for some this is what you want but the games gives basically no info on where to find resources which I get it the game is mainly supposed to be about exploration but having to search for a resource was literally so annoying in sub zero they gave us the resource detector and it was easier however the game for me would bug so much and there would be so many things stuck inside the terrain so I couldn’t get them and it would still detect them annoying also my main issue with sub zero was trying to get to the areas AL-AN would mark it would be very frustrating I also quit it really bc the snow stalkers were making me mad I kept dying trying to get their fur which side rant but that nowhere does it say where to get their fur but anyways trying to get to those locations were annoying in sub 1 it was so much easier and felt more realistic the waypoint pointed you to the location and the thing was there easy to find sub zero however the marker was always hundreds of miles away and at sub 1000 depth over exaggerating but that’s what it felt mind you I found AL-AN pretty quick so having him mark those and then spending 30 minutes - 1 hour trying to find the location giving up and looking up a guide only to find out you were completely far from where your supposed to be was infuriating I also could not for the life of me figure out how to get the stuff for the satellite test thing. I’d like sub 2 to be like sub 1 maybe having the pda give general locations where to find certain resources for the blueprints you synthesize also definitely no character dialogue that was something I liked about sub 1 first off it left you with your own thoughts on certain things also made for a more eerie atmosphere also giving that feeling that you’re truly alone sub zero felt like it was just a dlc expansion of sub 1 I mean they’re on the same planet but also it was worse some of the new creatures was cool but personally nothing was as scary as the reaper leviathan but like you said I don’t even remember most of them so they are already doing something good making it a new planet and also they said it will be larger and deeper so I’d assume we will have some form of big sub but personally I’d like a hybrid sub yk many the size of a multipurpose room the cyclops just seemed too big imo also like the new vehicles it’s cool that they combined a prawn suit and a sea moth together and the new sea glide things are good too I’d definitely like to see some form of exchange thing where alterra sends stuff and we send stuff or even like a market system we provide service by collecting resources or maybe genetic samples that we then send we get paid for said job and then can buy resources making it easier to get some rarer resources although they would be expensive like 1 enameled glass is worth what 10 normal glass would be since it involves a diamond I think it would be pretty interesting I did like the story of sub 1 better than sub zero it seemed kind of lack luster almost like they didn’t know which to commit to did they want it to be about finding out what happened to our sister or is it about AL-AN like the whole reason we go onto 4546B is bc we want to find out what happened to sam but it really just kind of felt like a side mission and AL-AN was the main not to say AL-AN isn’t cool it was a nice story but they definitely could’ve incorporated it better so they definitely should stick to one main story I’d say sub 1 was perfect the main story was getting off the planet but they added in the story of the architects and the sea emperors they could’ve just had us disable power to the weapon and build the rocket but they turned it into a great story sorry if this is kinda dumb I’m writing this while being very tired and also don’t know what else to say my mind kinda just went blank so ya

Thank you for being so reasonable. I see way too many people complaining about it as if Subnautica wasn’t “woke” from the start with its themes of anti-corporatism and coexistence with nature (aka something everybody LIKED about the first game.) There’s SO MUCH MORE to talk about regarding Below Zero, like how the story was completely rewritten mid-development. Most of the interesting conflicts and connective tissue between scenes and objectives had to be scrapped, which is why the story feels so disconnected and underwhelming. But no, why actually analyze the game’s shortcomings when we can just complain about having to play as a POC woman? (Edit: you actually mention the original story later on. Oops.)

I just did my 1st playthrough of Subnautica this month. It was an amazing game and I'm glad I finally got to experience it. When I heard there was going to be a sequel in 2025 I got really excited. But then I learned that it will be a big "work in progress" release and that the developers expect it to be 2 to 3 year minimum before its considered truly ready. Guess I will be waiting until I hear they think its ready for the 1.0 release. I remember when companies use to finish games before publishing them. Rockstar does it right with the GTA franchise. Delay if need be. Don't string gamers along so you can get their money early. Remember KSP2? Promised all sorts of cool features and then they closed down the studio. Early Access needs to end.
