yeah they should make it more realistic, like a diver having to actually make it up to the base to then stalk or whatever it wants to do, and then it doesnt just disappear, just tries to get out of view somehow, if you caught them running off from you it would give the feeling that they're planning an all out attack lol, or notifying other infected individuals of your location, that sounds realistic, but lame, i prefer it feeling like you're going insane and seeing things that dont exist, except they are more smoothly transitioned into your life and not just disappearing in plain sight after they're done with their show

@@gennix404 well its just that it all happened so fast that not a lot of tension was built. and whatever tension there was got obliterated by the weird placement of those divers that early in the game to the extent that it wasn't like "what was that? am i going crazy?" and more so "there's the spooky diver with three skulls again.."

This mod definitely has potential, the cheap scares definitely happen way too much and arent done too well so Im assuming this could be the modders first time doing scary stuff. The custom story with new voicelines from the radio are pretty well done, though would have been better if they felt a bit more pre-recorded by Alterra rather than it feeling connected to their radio feeds at all times, it feels more like in Below-Zeros approach to their story, losing a bit of that isolation feeling. A more messed up version of the Kharaa is a pretty cool concept overall and I guess the T posing diver suit skull dudes shows the previous survivors falling to the red plague, which is a cool detail. The custom ship, drones, and the floating island are sick too, very impressive and shows how far Subnautica modding has come so far, excited to see where this mod goes!

The "divers", ghosts random appearances around the place are a bit too much, and seem out of place early game! Other than that the story is interesting and I want to see what the next chapters bring! Edit: Maybe the ghost divers can start to appear after you build the dome to symbolize the trapped souls of the people who were killed and assimilated by the red plague, as if the plague wants to scare you to let it out!

Even better, the whole original story of the game leading up to the virus extraction is a fake-out. The drill pierces the Leviathan, then Alan warns the protagonist about tremors in the surrounding ice. At first they think it's the Prawn suit lady or an Alterra ship landing, then they realize that it's coming from _inside_ the ice. "I've recovered some fragmented information about this specimen... Members of its species can hibernate for centuries within the ice." "What does that mean?" "It means you should get out of here, NOW."

i like that the mod included Aurora passengers that were either not as lucky as the player character to have survived more than 5 seconds and were infected by the plague and "killed off" or died from any number of reasons and then got infected, like the melted plague skeleton left outside one of the lifepods, and then were "brought to life" by the plague. if it's not Aurora passengers but some other weird explanation i prefer my explanation. it's lore-friendly and creepy. mind you i just started the mod so i'm just spitballing.

I think the scariest part of this is that you're just a drone to Alterra, you're forced to keep doing their dirty work with no hope of ever surviving. You just have to keep following their orders, constructing their evil with no idea of what you're even doing. Just following orders for the vague hope you get to survive another day. You get the feeling of helplessness, helping an evil megacorp that's probably already infected building their monstrosities without knowing what exactly you're helping make or what horrors they will unleash.

I saw Butch play this mod, and my god, the abandoned seabase with the mutant divers swimming around gave me a fright. It's not even like the mod devs are trying to keep them hidden, those divers are right there in plain sight. They're not being hidden at the very corners of the screen, or behind walls, they're right there, and I never knew how simply reusing the playermodel and turning it into an NPC to stalk the player would be so effective.

I love this mod so much, it feels so fresh, especially as a fan of psychological horror. Its also very reminiscent of your "you are not alone" Creepypasta with the multiple characters (even if its not as discreet) which is very nice!
