Mare came here, the boss lady bought for cattle work, was difficult. I rode her after a while 'cause was getting worse, boss not real savvy, hard in the hands. Turned out well educated but "arena bound", had been a show horse, very unhappy in the bush. Rush and panic in creeks and gullies. Found a scar around a front tendon, really bad injury, but well healed and no scar tissue, hidden in the hair. Boss had never seen it. That injury broke someone's heart! She got sold on, and on, and way too good for most people I'd say. Worked her for about 3 months, came good. Boss worked her for 2 days and wrecked her again. I got off her because horse wrecker cannot be corrected, I wasn't prepared to share her. But that scar was definitely her undoing. She had about 20 annoying little tricks. Master of the crossfire, disunite herself as soon as the canter felt nice, no matter which lead, she'd swap front leads on the straight! Superb horse. I'm too old and she finally tried to throw me, that don't happen, I felt it coming, she'd telegraphed it to me. I'm 73 and don't need that shit. THE BEST HORSES NEVER GET SOLD ON!

Grief takes the time it takes, it's a process not an event. It's not so much "feeling sorry for yourself" as it is adjusting to your loss and the changes to your life that result from it. Working with a new horse ( even a visitor ) is a positive outlet for you feelings. It's the negative outlets of grief that you need to guard against. Drinking, not wanting to do things, isolating yourself etc. I've had experience with both good and bad outlets of grief more times than I really want to remember. On the plus side, the neighbors will get back a little better horse than they let you borrow and the horse will spend a few days with someone who understands her.

Who knows how someone else would treat Buddy ? Grief manuals will tell us not to make rushed decisions ..along with other recommendations. Mr. T was 30 - wow ! Maybe Mr. T didn't think he would be able to ride in the trailer upright, maybe he had a touch of colic. EPM is now being treatable - at least by locals in our area. Had a 10 yr old kitty that had seizures/convulsions ...out of no where...his body was all over the place. Emergency vet said he might have to do an MRI - out of state, tests, etc., and his condition might scare me as well as my other 2 kitties. So many questions and possibilities. I worry about my cats, if something would happen to me...as I probably had COVID but didn't get tested. I was under the weather for 5 weeks. Not sure why I am typing this here.....random thoughts ...good to see Rick, Buddy, and Bella ....hear Rick's laugh ..Maybe the BLM (?) has records on Mr. T's offspring.

Great to see you back on your feet. You sound a lot better! I was just talking to my friend about you, sending long ass voicemails and she was probably;y thinking “whys she crying about a horse she didn’t even know, crazy horse people”. I’m looking forward to seeing you work with a new horse, she looks like just the sassy mare you’d like. I cant thank you enough for what you teach us every day, every horse video I see someone in the comments mentions you or the things you talk about, and its amazing how many people you’ve reached. For every barn witch that hates you there’s 10 people who have learned from you and who give their horses a better life thanks to you- that’s countless horses other than buddy and mr. t that you’ve helped care for in some way. You probably won’t read all the way through this but if you do I just want to say that you have been INVALUABLE in the internet’s understanding of horses. As interest in horses has gone up, I see more and more young people under your videos willing to learn what probably nobody else will be able to teach in the way you do, even though the lessons are hard. At least once in my life I would like to talk to you and tell you just how much finding someone who shared my view of horses and the way many humans treat them changed 16 year old me’s life and continues to do so as I keep learning from you 5 years later.

Hi Rick, it's really good to see you working with Bella! She's been a good distraction for you both. I still miss my old dog Kola, even a couple years later but time heals all and you know as well as anyone if not better that you have to keep on keeping on. Bella is providing some great new teaching moments and Buddy "thinks" he gets to be the boss of somebody finally, she'll probably straighten him out pretty soon though lol. We'll always love and miss good Ole Mr. T, he was one Noble horsey that one was!!!

It's so great that Bella was available and the neighbor willing to hand her to you for a while. If they insist on keeping a halter on her, maybe they might agree to at least letting you put a rope halter on her? Even better, it would be great if you can get her to the point of not needing a halter to be caught.

Nothing better for dealing with grief than doing what you enjoy and what you’re good at. I’ve really missed these lessons and thoroughly enjoyed this one. Let’s be honest Rick, there is no way you could re home Buddy. He can’t lose Mr T and you anymore than you can lose Mr T and Buddy. Another horse will find you because it needs you and I look forward to all the lessons we will learn when that happens. No rush, no pressure it will happen when it happens. Until then, good bye Mr T you’re a good boy!! Xxx

Don't feel bad, Rick! You provided a wonderful life for Mr. T, better than he could've asked for with any other person that tried to ride him, or wanted to. He lived his life as a happy horse, and I'm sure he knew that you cared for him. Distracting yourself is a good thing. I lost my cat last year that I grew up with (i had her since I was like 3), and I still miss her to this day. But everyone has to go one day, and even if an animal leaves us within a year, a decade, or 50 years, the most important thing is to know that they lived a happy life and you did the best you could for them. It's the cycle of life, sadly. For a while, just keep doing whatever you like, or maybe even try out new things that could distract you, but don't overwork yourself. With Buddy and now the neighbor's mare, spend some time and bond even more, let Buddy know that the loss of his friend does not mean it's the end for him. Give him some apples for me, and the mare as well, she looks like she had a rough life, and deserves the best as well. And remember, when you feel like you miss Mr. T too much, you can always rewatch older videos of him, to keep him in your memory, just as hundreds of thousands of us do, and will do so in the future. 💜💜

Don't ever feel sorry for yourself, Rick... not over Mr T. You gave him another 20 years of wonderful life after his first 10 were about as rough as a horse can have. You saved him, and I guarantee he is forever grateful for the time he had with you. Don't feel sorry, feel proud for giving him the good home and good life that he deserved. He was a good boy.

Dear Owners of Bella, People around the world Thank You so very much for your kindness to Rick offering your help to Bury Mr T and thank God you moved in and allowed Bella to help Buddy with the Loss of his life long Best friend. God Bless you and your family for your kindness and compassion. It's as though God sent you to this house to bring our Beloved Montana so much Joy. He always loved having a Mare and Buddy became bonded to your Bella to help him in time of his greatest need. Many of us have followed Rick Mr T and Buddy for over a decade and what you are doing means so very much to all of us who are grieving the loss of an amazing Horse we fell in love with and learned from in thousands of videos. Your sweet Bella has become a part of the family along with the Donkeys before this tragic loss. We are praying whatever happened to her leg and other prior injuries can be fixed. She is such a sweet Horse. Rick you are being amazingly strong to help Buddy now. You are already making Bella a better horse and teaching more people to make their horses better in your humane way of teaching. I think Bella did really well in this first video. Mr T will always be part of this channel so I continue to say Good Boy Buddy and Mr T and I now add Good Girl Bella. Please take care of yourself Rick. Know that we didn't just Love Mr T Buddy Mokie and Stewie we fell in love with a straight talking Horseman whose sole mission was to give horses better lives by teaching us to think like a horse and never to use pain in doing so. Praying for you and Buddy too. My first Golden Retriever had the same thing happen to him as I saw With Montana. My vet said the same thing it was most likely something with his brain, Seizure like possibly a stroke. He had lived a full life in spite of living with epilepsy. I too saw no point in an autopsy. And Sonny along with all my others are forever in my heart as is Montana. 🙏❤🐎❤🙏
