I spent my entire working life as a mechanic. I have to hand it to you guys, you don't give up or let anything stop you. Changing an engine and now a transmission in parking lots during adverse weather conditions with limited tools is pretty damn impressive! Get er done👍

looked like you were broke down at calumet exit on I-40 just west of el reno which is 25 mi south of me. I just picked up a very original 64 C10. all 4 hub caps but the dreaded above windshield rust. Now onto looking for a better cab.

I had the exact same truck with the same tranny. It also went out on me twice. Got it running and sold it for an Automatic. Never had any problems since

Brad I Don't know about a one ton but a Corvair you can use a grease gun and hydraulically remove the pilot bearing it works really good. Good luck guy's

You do not give up by no means 47 years of driving a tractor trailer across the United States. You don’t tow with a Chevrolet you tow with a Cummins diesel or a Ford power stroke every time I’ve had one of those things I have had nothing but trouble however, I’m just saying glad you’re safe.

NV4500's are notorious for 5th gear failure. New Venture would not warranty this model if you towed in 5th gear

Is that the same clutch from the last time the transmission went south? If so, surely the clutch got stressed to the point that any pulling or pushing by the gooseneck trailer sheared the clutch.

The roughness of the road, will make your campers suspension flex, and probably let the front bumper hit the trailer. Expect some damage

Hopefully you made it home with it doing update video for how's it looking did you do anything to change the inside of the camper or anything like that or did you paint the outside

Just got it home and haven't torn into anything yet (other than everything we did on the road). We're going to just get everything working; going to change the carpet, replace the curtains, and that's about it for the inside. Drivetrain is getting improved with a new 454, NV4500 mania trans with OD, a later 14-bolt rear axle assembly with better gearing and limited slip, front disc brakes, and big 1-ton factory sway bars at both ends. I'll repaint the whole thing in two years.
