I'm over half way though your series and love your attention to detail!!! Thank you for taking the time out of your days to show people (me) how to rebuild a motor the right way.

THANKS FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO... IT WAS VERY EDUCATIONAL... NOW, I'MMA GO BACK AND WATCH THE OTHER 24 VIDEOS... I REPLACED MY CRACKED FLYWHEEL TODAY, IN MY 1981 GMC CABALLERO (305 ci.)... WHEN I FINISHED, I HEAR THE SAME NOISE THAT LED ME TO CHANGE THE FLYWHEEL... I RAISED THE CAR BACK ON THE LIFT, ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT MY FLYWHEEL & TORQUE CONVERTER WERE WOBBLING ALL OVER THE PLACE... MY FRIEND, WHO ALLOWED ME TO USE HIS SHOP, CHECKED THE "PLAY" IN THE CRANKSHAFT... THRUST BEARING!!!

Great job as usual mr. K! My confidence goes up after each video in the series. I'm excited to rebuild my 454. Especially after being given some 781 heads for free last week!

Thanks John! Building a new 565 Dart Big M to replace the 468 that let loose on me in my drag boat at 6400 r.p.m.. Your vid here was a great road map for the evening putting the crank in and going through the checks and rechecks. Thanks!

I prefer valve lapping compound for assembly lube.

My crank was frozen so I took 1/2 off. See some wear. Replaced piston bearings but now rod bearing assemblies will not go back on as if the bearings have grown. Strange?

Hey mikefromspace, I would remove piston/rod from each cylinder. Next I would place the rod in vice and install the rod cap and torque to spec. with bearings in place. Next take a measurement write it down. Do this for all 8 rods. Compare measurements and this will give you your answer. I would remove the crank and take measurements of the crank journals and bores. write the measurements down so you can compare measurements. Hope this helps. Johnny K
