Part 10 - What A Crazy Day - 1993 Ford Fiesta XR2i 16V Restoration Project - HD

I finished the battery tray at dinner time so thought I would carry on and get the wheels on the Fiesta XR2i 16V and as many of the parts I have been gathering as possible. I was shattered at the end but was well worth it. The car is now looking spot on. A few more things to do but I am getting there.

I had the fiesta rs turbo. Mine was in white with that red stripe and I had some wolf race alloys on it. If only I still had that car. I loved it.

Absolutely amazing car. Love the improvements you’ve had done. Can’t beat black either! 👌 My first car was a 3 year old J reg Fiesta 1.1 bass model 5 door in radiant red. Very basic and had the manual choke. I added a clock, rear wiper and sun roof. I also upgraded the radio to a cassette player! Had trouble with binding brakes and oil leaking and rusting around the petrol cap. The rust was treated under warranty. I had this car about 2 years and it kept its value well.

To fix your interior mirror seperate the mirror body from the piece that fixes to the windscreen. Once you have done that you will be able to stick the mount to the windscreen and once its fully secure and cured you can carefully re attach the mirror body. You could try heating the pad a little with a lighter before you stick it as the heat will help but dont use too much. The mirror is basically too heavy and therefore will keep falling off unless you seperate it. Ive done this job on my old escort rs turbo and my escort cabriolet.good luck fella

What's the difference between the xr2i 16v and the RS 1800 . I nearly bought an RS 1800 about 17 years ago . But at the time I didn't know that the RS 1800 replaceed the RS turbo . I was only 20 at the time if I had known that I would of bought it . The reason I didn't was because the rear windscreen wipe mounting point had rusted through .

They both had the 1.8 zetec engine. The xr2i 16v was 105bhp the rs1800 was 130bhp. Interior and wheels where different too :)

Tommy Sutton it's not a permanent thing. It fell off but will be going back where it belongs soon :)
