Part 2 - The Walk Around - 1993 Ford Fiesta XR2i 16V Restoration Project - HD

I have had the 1993 Ford Fiesta XR2i 16V for exactly one week and I have finally drove the car and it is spot on. I have given it a bath and now it is time for a quick walk around to show you guys what I have bought.

I owned 3 of these back in the 90s, J reg pacifica blue, K reg white and L reg in ash black. Shouldn't have blue stripe, my L had clear indicators so not entirely sure when the changeover was. Standard was steel wheels and wheel trims... I never had alloys on any of mine. Badge is from an 8v, 16v ones were chrome IIRC. Seats etc you know about lol.Enjoyed that.

Really like that, good project, wheels and suspension are easy enough to sort, i think you can get the rear quarter window caps cheap enough from Ford. I think they are same as Ka's, thats what i use on my old escort rs turbo.

Put the RS 1800 wheels on it. Had them on my mk1 xr2 nice wheel diamond cut looks great when all clean and polished

samhosier I like them if I'm being honest. They don't seem to be tinted like the rs turbo ones so not sure if they did a standard model Fiesta with them.

projectforduk I prefer the rs windows too anyways. They did only come on the rs, they do look slightly green too. Be careful when you are changing the caps on them as I smashed one of mine trying to restore it. You can use mk5 pop out hardware too as the bolts under the caps rust out.

Also might have an air box from my si that is in pieces.

Didn’t the 16v not come with big winged recaro’s? There rare seats remember seeing a dark blue one on the road guy had it for years. Like the black ones. I had a white 1.6 XR2I was a rapid wee thing pulled away from my mate in his XR4X4 I remember being like nah a canny be!!! Guy always had to have the best/fastest ford. Mind you he had a 500bhp 3 door cossie that cost him 50-60K was never going to get it all back we went to Ava to get it set up and it spun a shell on the way home rebuild? Yes!! He hardly used it either had to break it to get some money back from it 😀👍

The xr2i had recaro seats as an optional extra. When they were fitted with them, they moved the switches for the windows onto the doors rather than being in the centre console. Look where the buttons are on this. The seats are correct to the car

And that wasnt just for the 16v, this was an option from the beginning with the xr2i, thus, the 8v had this same option

Those recaro seats are correct to the car. They were an optional extra out of the factory! It is incredibly rare to find them with these recaro seats these days. You know because the window switches were moved to being on the doors rather than in the center console if it came with those recaro seats!

These recaros are out of an rs turbo they have the green line in the fabric. Rs1800 and xr2i 16v material has a light blue line in it. You may of been able to upgrade the wingbacks to recaros but they would of been recaros from a fiesta rs1800 not rs turbo
