she is a beauty my friend, reminds me of the day with my 65 trying to find parts to hold her together, no internet back then and you got real good digging in scrap yards , i would keep that one if it was me, i had to give mine up when my first born was blessed to me by my king , needed ac for the new born, never have found another to replace the girl but i did finish restoring it , i havent watched the whole series as of yet , been stuck in the 327 build hahahah love the old stuff mate ,when they built things to last , dont kick the truck if you just loose it, it will break toes , i know this first hand hahahah. i hope i dont offend you by saying god bless you and your my friend , one day we all will meet in a much better place

Unfortunately this '66 isn't mine, I was gettin' her going for a friend. I do have my dads '60 stepside Apache and another '63 C10 that I hope to get into one day. I know what you mean about having to let old cars go. I have sold more projects than I wanted to, but when a family comes along they certainly have priority. My first was a '64 Impala, only a four door model but I loved that car. Oh, and being brothers in Christ means we're family and you will never offend me! God bless!

great video and instruction...thnx....my 65 K-20 fan motor is squealing, so I'll be doing a clean up and/or replacement to this outside FW assy...my other issue is with fan speed control (works on high only). From what I can tell, I'll need to disassemble the inner housing to access/repair the resister pack/switch, and verify vent ducts, etc operational...videos always make it less daunting on the 1st try

yes, high only is a classic resistor symptom. good luck and have fun!

I have been viewing the entire 1966 series and appreciate you sharing your work and instruction. Currently putting back the engine bay on my '65 LWB C10 with a 230 L6. Your experience is welcomed.

Well that was perfect timing for me. I’ve been bringing a 64 c10 back to life and the heater core is the last thing I have to replace. The new one is in route. Half the battle with this kind of stuff is figuring out how it comes apart. Thanks for filming this.

Very much help! I've had my gmc since '71 and it's a '65 and those straps on the core have been laying loose in there since i've had it. Now I can secure them properly. Never knew how those things worked 'til now. Thanks a bunch from n.e. georgia.

@@Prowbar Chevrolet didn't use the V6, they used Inlines until around 1990. Of course they did use V8s. I've never had the opportunity to work with an old GMC V6, I would really like to someday!

@@TheJayhawker my question was meant for the poster, James, as he mentioned the GMC. I own a '65 GMC 1500 (3/4) ton myself, it is my own project. With the 305 V6. @The Jayhawker I really like this build, as it is very similar to mine. On top of that, the fact that you're a Christian makes it even better. Sincerely, a fellow Christian from the Netherlands.

Thanks for doing this. I’m at the exact same spot in my identical (almost, ‘64 Long Fleetside 292 3OTT) and my parts are in electrolysis scheduled for paint this week. This was very valuable since I’m upgrading from “Thrift” to “Deluxe” and there were questions in my thinker......other than the inside being left rusty-you could have put a coat of rust converting primer on for some protection since these boxes are impossible to find here in so-cal, or $300 repop, you’ve answered all my questions and now I’m ready to tackle this and move on to the next.....thank you!!

Great video! My fan motor is out, crusty and rusty, ordered a new one and it has two wires I'll have to figure out and appears the new squirrel cage is held on by a set screw! Anyways my question is the difference between Thrift and Deluxe besides the controls? I think it's the door on the outside but can't get a straight answer. Thanks in advance

How can you tell if you have the deluxe or the thrifty
@TheJayhawker
@TheJayhawker Жыл бұрын
I would have to look it up again to be positive but I believe your heater controls on the thrifty are basically just "on" and "off" The deluxe have a blend or fresh air modes.

What an easy heater core to replace! Modern cars can call for 14 hours of miserable labor! On an old high mileage car that can exceed the value of the car! In the old days when people still fixed things, and decent radiator shop would have repaired and resealed it for probably 15.00.

OMG. Made in the U.S.A. 😆 🤣 You can remove the whole assembly from the truck with just the few bolts that attached the Deluxe heater to the truck. Instead of it falling apart on the engine bay.Wow. And it is possible to assemble the thing and attach it all together as a unit.
