Love your sewing nest !!! It’s wonderful!!! Great idea to add batting in sections, more manageable to hold & stitch … love listening to you !!!🩷🩷🩷

This is a good day for me……. I’ve found you, your channel seems just what I ‘NEED’. I had back surgery some years ago and things are not good now. At 77 and 5yrs post stroke I couldn’t have more surgery. I understand the painful standing and the walking etc. But enough of my health stuff…… I 100% agree with your outlook on creativity……. I think that creating ANYTHING….. makes you feel much better. I’m writing to you from Belfast, Northern Ireland. My favourite flower is the Snowdrops, my garden is not what it used to be but I have to tell you that I’ve got a BIG clump of Peonies outside my front door…… big , fluffy pink ones😊. I will think of you in summer when they are at their gayest abandonment…… I don’t tie them, they just do their own thing. So, for me, a bit of binge watching is called for. One thing I can’t quite work out is ….. how you start? So pleased to have found you, new things to learn❤️❤️❤️.

Wow, I love your spirit! If those peonies are anything like your creativity, they must be thriving in their wild and free style too! I'm so jealous of your fluffy pink beauties! I'm truly honored to be a part of your creative journey. Be sure to watch the playlist for this quilt project. Video #1 will show you how I started my quilt. Happy to be stitching along with you.

I have not madr a quilt, but I do a lot of other different crafts. Including sewing. And while I do not have a scrappy bin, I do have a fair amount of fabrics, projects that have been started and tend to keep all the different offcuts from them just because. Maybe "Happy scrappy qulting" will be my little fuel for the year to come.

It's wonderful to hear that you're inspired to try "Happy scrappy quilting"! Those offcuts can lead to some beautiful creations, and I can't wait to hear about what you come up with!

Very nice place to stitch. I have a comfy chair in my library. It’s my haven. I have all my embroidery threads, silk ribbons and some of my scraps. It’s quiet and all my books. I haven’t been stitching much lately because the holidays and cleaning and a little cooking has made me nap. lol. It was all fun and needed but stitching has been put on hold. I am so grateful to have my haven. Hugs and blessings. I am making enchiladas. We call it enchilada Sunday. lol.

It’s good to have a haven. Makes stitching that much more enjoyable! I could sure get into a Sunday enchilada lunch. I can't cook them well but I sure enjoy eating them!

Well I’ve started my wild and free to use up the scraps I’ve hoarded from my traditional quilts . It’s coming along nicely although I must confess that I do quite a bit of planning and cut my batting with a ruler and rotary cutter 😂. I cut the length of the side I’m working on to reduce the joining process and I plan the joints by extending the fabric on the piece I’m working on past the batting. So am I wild and free? 😂😂 What would the quilting police say ? But I’m thoroughly enjoying the process and slow stitching a quilt . Thank you for sharing .

LOL! Absolutely! WILD AND FREE gets into your blood a little at a time. And an important part of that is being able to do your quilt, your way. So proud to have you working with me and thanks so much for sharing your process with us all. LOVE IT!

Hello from Australia 🇦🇺 I just found your channel. I’m 52 and retired due to ill health and chronic back issues. We moved to a small county town into a house built in 1935 and I have a stitching porch too! It was a veranda in its day but is now enclosed and made into a long narrow room. I loved seeing yours, it gave me some ideas and inspiration on how to organise mine. It’s a great space with lots of natural light with a view to my trees in the front garden. Aren’t we lucky to have such a space ❤️🏡 Thank you for the lovely video, I subscribed .

Hi Lynda! I had taco soup for lunch that a neighbor had shared with us. I love your stitching porch. I have a favorite wing-backed chair with a swivel floor lamp that’s my spot. I’ve continued my craft room organizing. I’m embarrassed how many bags of scraps I found and had forgotten. Thanks for a great visit today!

Hello, i just love your scrappy quilt, i have never made one, so i am happy to see your video. Am i correct to say you are using scraps with raw edges? I will attempt one as i have scraps everywhere! Lol! Right now i am working on my yo-yos for a sewing machine cover! I have made several bags with slow- stitching. I am so happy to find your channel! I too have back and hip problems, and i have trouble standing and walking too! I will follow along to get some good ideas! So beautiful!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled that you found my channel and that you're inspired to create. I hope the videos give you plenty of ideas for your projects! And yes, I'm using scraps with raw edges.

Very pretty stitching, what type of threads and needles do you use?
@IckyChicDesigns3 күн бұрын
I'm using milliner's size 16 needles and embroidery floss.

Hi Lynda I have just found your channel. I have sewn a quilt like this on machine so the edges wer'nt raw. Let me ask. How does it wash, not too much fraying? And also, if you have quilted onto batting how will you attach the backing?
@IckyChicDesigns2 күн бұрын
As I have said many time, some fraying will occur with use but that just adds to the soft scrappy appeal of this design in my mind. Also, quilts like these are more decorative than utility items and don't need cleaning as often. If they are hand washed and handled with care, washing them is no problem. Hope I addressed your questions.
@patriciabond80873 күн бұрын
I do have a question, are you using sewing thread, embroidery thread, or quilting thread? I have all kinds of threads
@IckyChicDesigns3 күн бұрын
I'm using two strands of embroidery floss on the quilt top.

Your scrappy quilt is coming along nicely. My scrappy duvet cover is also coming along nicely. I am invisible stitching irregular rectangles onto a torn duvet cover to make the fabric thicker and stronger. Thank you for making your videos. I love watching them… Kathleen 4theloveofstitch 💕🪡🧵🎉🇨🇦
