Part 14 Rolls Royce Renovation, what’s next???

My Dad let me tag along after him when he worked in electrical, refrigeration, plumbing , building things, and talked about what he was doing. I knew he wanted a son but had two daughters so we were both determined to learn everything a son would learn. Even when he hung out with the guys in his workshop, having a few beers, I was allowed to sit quietly in the corner as long as I didn’t tell my mum about the 🤬 swearing . It’s amazing if you’re quiet how they forgot I was there and I knew all the men’s gossip. We had a floor register in the upstairs of the house to let the heat come up and it was over the table where my mum and friends played cards, had a few drinks and gossiped about the community so I was well versed in gossip.🤣😂🤣😂. Dad has been gone many years now but I treasure all those times I got to hang out with him and what he taught me has come in very handy all my life. When I moved out on my own and had my own home he put together a toolbox with the essentials so I could fix and maintain things myself. I still have them and I get to teach my grandkids about how to do some things, bike maintenance, how to construct wooden kits, make kites, little things so far.....when I can pry them away from their screens.🤣😂🤣😂. I love seeing you teach your daughter about cars and things. 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻

My daughter is the same way with me in the car... but just remember. She is very proud of you. I took my 1966 Bug for a drive after getting the Sunroof in and the intake change and when I came back she was standing on the porch shivering. I of course asked "Do you want to go for a ride" and she said "No Daddy, I just wanted to watch you". Melted my heart right there!

Alex, You need to apply for a chauffeur's license! This would be a great car to transport newlyweds to and from the church. You could wear a top hat and tails and be the Chauffeur and charge $1,000 a pop! You have become an international KZbin star so the newlyweds will have bragging rights to a great story to tell their children.

Not a very good car for it. . It's only a 2 dr. So having a bride trying to pile in and out of the back with a big white frilly dress and hope it doesn't get snagged on the door frame doesn't sound like a good ideal.

I am so amazed at the success you have had with your car. I admit when you called the parts car a "Hunk O Junk" I laughed when I compared it with the raccoon damage. I had to go back and look at the video of when you brought that poor forlorn RR home , the difference is amazing !!!!! Dark to daylight!!!! Putting in the drivers seat changed the whole aspect of the old girl, once started and back to dancing she will be the bell of the ball at any car show!!!! What a beauty, she is, 'tain't nuten at the shows will be capable of holding a candle to her, she is in a CLASS all her own!!! Seeing Abigail sitting in the drivers seat, brought back a whole slew of memories, my "little drivers" are now grown and have "baby girls" of their own now but they will ALWAYS be MY baby girls, whither they like it or not!!!!! ;-D

My nieces were the same way about certain cars that I owned....when I owned a '68 Electra, they wanted to go wherever I was going - even when I was going to work. When I owned a '92 Buick Roadmaster Wgn., my older niece was hoping I'd teach her how to drive - at 13. And when I slipped up & bought a beater Cadillac, both nieces disapproved - w/the younger niece taking 1 look at it and shaking her head....lol.

Wowzie what a difference it makes getting all that put back on. You are so talented. What can't you do is the question. Thanks for taking us along through all your adventures truly is fun for me. Being disabled on a very limited income I don't go anywhere even when there's no virus to keep everyone indoors only things I go out for is the doctor's and the store maybe 2xbox a month so being able to watch families gives me a feeling of seeing what it's like to really have a life. It makes me smile. So thank you. You have a beautiful family.

So sad to hear of Dave's passing. He was a great guy and you were so blessed to have him in your lives. Cherish the memories for you have so many recorded. Not many have that treasure. You are in my prayers that God will give you strength and comfort. Great video. Your kids are at the age now of being most impressionable about life. Alex, please take Abigail on date once a month and instill in her how she should expect a date to respect her and how she should be ladylike and modest. Melissa, same for you with the boys. I know the important traits have been shown by your own lifestyles, but you glean more from life lessons if you see and hear them. You are such a wonderful couple and are great parents who properly 🙏 teach, and earn the respect of, your children. "Do as I do" is so much more special and valuable than "do as I say do". Self-respect and self-confidence are far more precious than self-esteem. I'm very proud of your family. You realize that a house is not a home until a "true family" loves it and always cherishes each other first and foremost. Your Blessings are innumerable and you share them with others. Just take one day at a time and make the most of it, always doing your best in anything you take on - also always finish what you start. Do not have to always say yes if you know it would overload you. We all have limitations and must acknowledge that. A big hug from a 77 year-old Mimi near Chicago.

My Dad taught me to drive in a 1964 Mercury Mont Claire Marauder! Cherry red, two-door, hard-top! I had to sit on a couple pillows to see past the nose of that boat and only made it up to about 60 kph on the highway, but I had a great time! "Dad, what if we get pulled over? I'm 14." I used to watch my dad work and hand him tools or help if it was a project I could work on, as a daughter I can say that your dad is the center of your world for a long time, your daughter will be there for you when your old, this made me tear up thinking of your wife's dad, God bless your family, hold on to each other and the good memories you have of Dave.

Dad's are so very important to daughters (and of course visa versa) but don't underestimate what a father is to a daughter. A good relationship between the two, sets the foundation for her and is so very important.

Hi Alex. Been watching your progress on your Roll-Royce since you started. Make sure your repair shop is really familiar with the RR Hydraulic system & he only uses RR363 brake fluid.It's unlike ANY other car with no brake master cylinder & 2 camshaft driven Hydraulic pumps on top of the engine for both the suspension & braking systems.It's more like an aircraft system than a car. These are extremely complicated wonderful driving cars when serviced by a Technician who knows them & a nightmare & money pit if repairs or restoration are attempted by a "so called" expert. I have owned 13 RR's & Bentleys since 1976 & currently have a 58 Silver Cloud & an 89 Bentley Turbo RL. I am not a mechanic but I know these cars well & live in Calgary. Like you I also have a 79 Alfa Spider Veloce. Good luck !

Coming along nicely. Amazing at the difference from when you first got it. Back then I honestly didn't know if it could be salvaged but I should have known better. Let your daughter get her hands dirty and teach her about tools and how things work. I grew up in a mechanic family and I learned lots of things that sure come in handy even today. Can't wait for your first drive in this car. I know her first owner is smiling down on you.
