hot damn man. 1am and I'm watching Ghost working mechanical magic while refraining from the language I would've surely been spewing out in frustration if it was me. another excellent series Ghost

LOL! Yeah, I try to keep my channel "G" rated so folks can listen without worrying about the kiddies being bombarded. I should've kept my outtakes over the years and put together an F-bomb fest....lol. Glad you liked it! Take care, G.

Great to find and see these videos (have not completed but one so far) as I have problem with my transmission and it's costly as you know to have someone else fix it. I am intending to do mine myself as soon as I find time for it. The instructions you are using where could I get my hands on them?
@ghostses5 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, extremely costly. I'm not sure if you're aware I have an assembly series posted as well, so you might look for them on my channel. Both of the series are pretty detailed. As for the manual, do a google search for u140e transmission manual pdf. It should be the first one in the list- 120 pages. Hope this helps, G.

@@ghostses Thank you for your quick reply G. And yes, I saw the assembly videos there also. These I am sure will become very useful whenever I'll have a chance to get at it. Thank you again for posting these. Great work!

btw, is this U140E for FWD, or U140F for AWD?
@ghostses5 жыл бұрын
This was a FWD. The manual covers both the E and F. I don't recall having to skip around, but I could be wrong. Good luck, G.

To make a 3/4" socket go on a 1/2" drive you can stuff in two flat pieces of steel the right size. Might not hold up to an impact gun for any length of time, but sometimes once is all you need. Did that to a socket with two square nuts I found that just happened to fit perfectly, I wouldn't be surprised if they are still in there and it gets used that way (not my socket).

I thought rebuilding a rotary engine was a job but geez there's a lot in an auto trans. I did a couple of manual boxes years ago but I can see why it's a dedicated trade in itself.
@ghostses4 жыл бұрын
I'd too have done a manual box or two (years ago) and one auto along the way until this one. Agreed, a trade in itself it is for sure. G.

I suspect high rpm was a contributing factor. I have seen similar things happen on other vehicles from high rpm.

Could be Isaac. I'm no pro, so I can't say either way. Take care, G.

I do not see anything wrong at the parts that you tried so hard to separated them out. Now you may try just as hard to put all of the old parts together. I am not a transmission specialist (just a car owner) but I have torn the same u140 to replace the main planetary gears and clutch set and drive it for the last 4 years with no problem. Good luck

I show what was wrong somewhere in the series. I have another series where I put it back together. It's still working great. Take care, G.

Yeah George, there are a lot of pieces for sure. It did turn out great but was a lot of painstaking work. Take care, G.

I would have been cursing a lot more than I heard you (probably some editing and I know under the breath) cursing at those fighting me. I get frustrated and usually break something forcing it.
@ghostses7 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah Mac! Out-takes galore to try and keep it clean. I've learned over the years I need to peel back so I don't create more damage over what I'm trying to fix. Not easy sometimes, G.
@MRrwmac7 жыл бұрын
ghostses The cuts (like from piston rings) don't bother so much if it weren't for the blood getting on parts and the sting (haha)when cleaning up with gasoline (best cleaner)! Wish we could "cheaply" get some of those gloves surgeons use that aren't easily cut through with a scalpel. But I hate using gloves anyway.
@ghostses7 жыл бұрын
Yeah Mac, I have surgical gloves i use from time-to-time, but like you- I don't like using gloves. It's bad enough trying to hold tools with ATF on them without gloves! Slippery stuff! G.
