I install a tach booster to make the original tachometer work with the coil on plugs. The adapter works...at first. I then drive the Corolla with the laptop logging the AFR's. Using the PC Link mixture map, I make a fairly decent road tune. While tuning, I run into a fellow Toyota enthusiast. Dustin has a LS swapped Cressida that mobs pretty fast! We show each other our rides and go on our merry way, each with a new friend. I drive during sunset until the 4AGE was needing very little fuel corrections. The next morning I take the FX16 to a local cars & coffee. It was of course the only FX16 out there and one of a handful Toyota's. We don't have many Toyota enthusiasts around my area :/ Plenty of people were interested, however, and it was nice to have the Corolla in good running order to display. Later that day, I try attempt to make the tachometer work above 6k rpms. To do this, I removed the gauge cluster and changed a resistor on the tach controller, 30k replaced with a 1k. This was an attempt to run the tach purely off the coil signal. The coil dwell time however did not translate well as a tach signal. I have a 3rd idea that was presented by my tuner which I will attempt in part 3.
Thanks for watching! Sub and like the video if you enjoyed this. Part 3 will be my road tune vs the dyno tuner!
