Even without ever owning a 4age car, I can see, and hear, why so many people fall in love with them. My first car, back in the 90’s, was a 1990 Miata. While the engine did not make lovely sounds like a 4age, the low power and FR drivetrain layout made every second of driving enjoyable. Really cool to watch your videos. I don’t see a lot of these older Toyotas being daily driven on the roads these days. Great to see the people enjoying and preserving the beauty and engineering of Japanese cars from this era.

I haven't seen a single GT-S out in the wild. There is only one sad looking FX that drives around our area. The classic Toyota's have such great character when you're behind the wheel.

With the 1k resistor mod try removing the tach booster. My car has a standalone ecu and the output ran my oem tach (Toyota starlet) with only the resistor mod. However on a 2zz swap I did which used the oem ecu the same 1k mod didn't work. I had to build a tach signal amplifier instead. So maybe it's to do with the method that the standalone vs the oem ecu use for tach signal.

I’m telling ya man. A quick gasket matching port job and moving the fuel delivery further up the stacks would help lay the ground work for the cams to properly breathe. I’m convinced that a good port job on the intake/manifold and exhaust/header and moving the injection would gain some very usable power increases.
@sushpants4 жыл бұрын
A port job will definitely result in more power! I'm planning on doing cams/valves/springs, don't know about relocating the injectors. I'm not sure i have the room to move them further up.

Sushpants question for you. What fuel were you using in your 20v for your dyno tests?
@sushpants4 жыл бұрын
California - 91 octane pump gas. Not the best stuff out there.
@zerohikari26854 жыл бұрын
@@sushpants This explains why your car pulls weaker dyno numbers. 20v are suppose to run 100 RON minimum.
@AarieVann4 жыл бұрын
@@sushpants Thank you!
@SteelSub4 жыл бұрын
@@zerohikari2685 This is due to differences in how octane is measured in the US. 91 octane here is about 95RON. Also our ratings are minimums so they usually test a point higher as a margin for safety. 92 octane is about 97RON. US 93 octane would be 100RON. I have the same California 91 octane in my area and my higher than stock compression 20v runs perfect stock ecu. 130hp is a very healthy number considering drivetrain losses. Also higher octane fuel does not cause a motor to make more power. It just allows it to run more advanced timing/boost without knocking.
@zerohikari26854 жыл бұрын
@@SteelSub 93 is not 100 RON 95 would be. That's an easy thing to check btw because RON is always 5 more octane than US. And yes it does make more power. The ECU in the Blacktop and Silvertop will retard the timing if it senses less than optimal octane levels. This is proven. Blacktop whp should be between 135 and 138HP on 100 Octane on trabsaxle drivetain. Please go check PadOnWheel's Dyno numbers for the Blacktop.

I know our cars aren’t the same but I want something I can really take around the corners and track and have fun with it.
