Feeling bad for those poor summer pirelli tires. Its not the car that complains about tires (it doesnt matter what car you have, it will perform the same), its the tires themselves. Those are designed to work in over 40f (~7c) weather and not in snowy/slushy/muddy conditions. Definitely change them out before winter time if you wanna enjoy the ride and keep you and others safe. Cheers

Hey dave! Copypasted this from your part1... Appreciate the video, always nice to see beautiful snowy conditions... can't wait for the snow here in Sweden. I notice as many others did many "beginner mistakes"! Tip 1: preheat the car for about 60mins, don't use maximum heat since windshield might crack with that much snow on top and if you have a stone chip or small crack allready. Tip 2, try to charge all night so battery keeps warm, yours was cold since charging was already complete Tip 3: don't use windshield wipers or windows before clearing snow and ice... can break. For the Windows you can use an old credit card to slide between the rubber and window to clear any ice-buildup. Wipers you can brush of the snow and manually slap(with caution) against the windshield to clear some ice. Tip 4: it's your car but please just slap the boots together to release snow rather then kicking your beautiful car... Tip5: don't use performance tires in the cold, they suck on snow and ice and they get badly damaged from the cold since that type of rubber is not made for those temps. Tip 6: when driving in snow, use momentum. If you get stuck, don't mash the pedal and rely on TC... go little back, then forward again to get some momentum. Would probably been able to drive there if you did that trick. Tip 7: don't put the extendercord and charge cable buried in snow, hang the cord end/connection on something so it's not buried in water(water+electricity is bad!). The charge cable box should probably also be above snow and you can use a plastic bag to cover it. Again, thanks for the snow video and please consider my tips :)

11:38 when you said you preheated the car for 30min...and show a generic screenshot of the app? because how is it still 2F in the car when you preheated for 30min? I find turning on climate + defrosters = the car pouring ungodly amounts of electricity into getting the car hot and for the past week(s) with this cold coming in, that I just need 5min of turning on climate + defrosters and I once I reach my 3, I can easily hop in, hit the window wiper to clear w/e, and drive off...while others are scraping off frost with their ICE on. It's really not the cold we fear, but that everything in the car uses electricity to run, so range will get a bite in winter if you like your cabin to be nice and warm when you drive around and the heat pump doesn't really do much when it's that cold.
@mmanda5154 жыл бұрын
Apparently, he took the screenshot, when he turned the pre-heat ON..... not after the 30min. As can clearly be seen on the screenshot itself, says to set at 60 degrees, that it's currently 2 degrees inside & then, at the bottom, click here.... Guessing he prob set, took image & then clicked to turn ON & start pre-heat for 30 min. Stay safe & be well.

I feel sorry for the poor Tesla vehicle going through that rough raw cold weather and sitting outside all the time. But it seems to still operate ok once the doors are not frozen. Glad Illinois does not get down to that kind of weather very often. Usually raw temps are 0 to 20F degrees. Our wind chills do approach those minus temps from time to time. When it snows here usually in the 20 to 30F degrees range. My vehicles are in a warmer home garage at night. Wow, you do have a very long Frontage road to get back into your place. I still dont get it? Is he for real? Have he ever heard of removing the snow, pre-heat and wintertires? These things are common knowledge for ANY electric OR fossilcar-owner! KZbin aint for everyone I understand...."one of the benefits with Tesla is that it saves you from "overacceleration"..... Yes, this is a very specificTesla-feature, indeed...the list is long here, it really hurts watching! Will now rest my mind and eyes with some radio to calm down...

And snow on the car you brush off since it is a hazard driving around with loose snow. It just works. Now a Volvo, previously a Mazda. No problem what so ever. But they are properly designed and built so...

@@Xanthopteryx Do you seriously think that all electric car owners have no previous experiance of driving and owning a fossilcar? It´s called an app on your phone! Preheat the car for 10 minutes, before you get out there. Problem solved! Did the same on my old Volvo V60 diesel, no difference..This guy havent realised the pro´s driving electric. 30 YEARS of driving, never going back to those shitty fossilcars again...n
