Once you set your feet in a foreign country, find an international church to make it your second family. They can come to your rescue in times of vulnerability. May God strengthen you & give you a new life.

I think if Bassy start a movement called Friends of Bassy, I'll join to put pressure on UN women desk which South African women heading it to check how can we sanction that country. I don't know how you do it. I've experienced that so many Croatians have ugly hearts and they are racist. I feel it everytime I visit or interact with them. They have internal scum energy directed at blacks. In fact I do not like visiting there. Outside of Croatia it's a little hidden but it's coz these ones focus is to climbing up the social ladder and are fake even to the so called better whites to get where they want. They are a hurt people. I don't understand where their harshness comes from. Very sad coz outside of this they're actually lovely people. They act like the nasty sibling but who is nasty with no explanation. They don't even meet people where they are before redirecting how to treat you. They just treat you ugly.

As someone living in the Balkans where Bassie was, domestic violence here is a huge problem. Many of you don't realize that GBV is an issue in South Africa, but at least we talk about it and try to fix things. I saw a woman get slapped by a man on national TV and everyone who was there didn't react or do anything. Bassie's story is made worse by her isolation and lack of support.

The first thing one can do in a foreign country. Help yourself by learning the language as possible, it will save you a whole lot, trust me. It makes the whole experience a bit bearable, you will be able to advocate for yourself and no matter how much they hate us , they respect someone who speaks their language. They are offended by us for not speaking their native language in the their own land. Basetsana be proud of the fact that you had money to move around and look after yourself. I am experiencing the same here in Kenya from my in-laws as we speak. Thank goodness my Kenyan husband is trying to protect myself and our 5yr old from his family, but being married in a foreign country is tough. I believe everything she is saying. My in-laws are the worst type. My husband's older brother put his hands on me 4yrs ago and broke my jaw because he didn't want me to take my son back home to my country. He kept saying that boy belongs to this family. Thank God my husband has stood up to his family. Now we has been cut off from the family that thinks they are better Africans than us Southern Africans.

Date for at least three years, visit once or twice to check him out, his friends and living situation. Thereafter, introduce him to your own network which you MUST at least have prior to coming. And...please when people see red flags..dont dismiss it.

As a mother my heart bleeds watching this 💔 what she went through was so toxic. One thing that she should now is that, no evil done goes unpunished, pray to the Lord to heal your heart. Leave everything in his hands. Forgive these monsters, not for them but for yourself, for your peace. As for your son, time heals, give your son soo much love, a lot of love, assure him that nothing like that will ever happen to him again in this life, reassure him that he doesn't need to be scared. Do it everyday. As much as he is going to therapy, help needs to come from home as well.. You need to heal yourself do help your son. Involve your family in raising him and showing him as much love as possible. He will start feeling safe and that light will come back to him (who he was).. You will be okay mama ❤

Even tho she doesn't have any father figures or man protection I will do everything in me to protect her. It's ok to choose you and your sons wellbeing and you are going to come through this and shine bright sweetheart. Us woman are just as capable of making a life for ourselves without the means of a man and YOU ARE TESTIMONY OF THAT. We love you and keep you in our prayers. All embassies are like that. They are more concerned with their relationship with the respective countries. In 2016 we checked the South African embassies website in Qatar even mentioned don’t call us if no one died. I was shocked. The South African embassy in Germany is a bit better to be honest. When I went to register the birth of my son in 2018 I did not plan to apply for my son to have a passport and one older man stopped me and asked what language I spoke and I told him and he told me in his language in front of my husband to apply for all papers in that very moment while we are still happy because if things go south atleast I have all paperwork.

After the previous comments, I don't think Bassie will comeback to the comment section. But, I hope she does. 1. 20:55 I love the realisation, it is maturity. Therapy will help you spot these things from afar and protect yourself against them. 2. 21:54 you were a prisoner of that dream. And needed to be freed from it. You now need to be freed from the dream of ever getting justice. 3. Therapy helps you realize the part you played in it. Not to cede them off their responsibility. But, to empower you to realize that this can only happen when you permit it, making you the authority of your destiny. You have no power to induce justice, you're once again putting yourself in a situation where you have no power
