12:41 "Oh my god. Look at that." Yeah. Not only is the invading ship not _destroyed._ It's not even _scratched._ But the city around it is _hopelessly_ irradiated. It's going to _be_ a while before it's _habitable_ again. This is the kind of thing that happens when you try to _fight_ an adversary whose technology is _centuries_ ahead of yours, but who, otherwise, you can't tell a damn thing _about._

1. Brent Spiner/Dr. Okum played Data in Star Trek TNG. It's nice to see him with emotions. 2. Goof: The president said he sent up an AWAC. It's AWACS= Airborne Warning And Control SYSTEM. 3. Cousin Eddie saves mankind.🤩

Watching this in a completely packed theater, when the President said he was going to be flying the mission himself, I turned to the total stranger sitting next to me and said, “If he survives this, he’s a shoo-in for reelection.”

Imma say it, because people get a "wtf" reaction to David creating a program that can 'infect' alien computer... No one questions, that aliens themselves had to create compatible OS to infiltrate radio signals on the satelites. It's not impossible. Hard - yes. But for an MIT with an intellect that is shown on David - not impossible.
@ShreeNation
@ShreeNation 10 ай бұрын
I agree. Even if it was a five-head move, David identified the vertical lines as a computer language and if he understood what it meant then over time he would know how to break the lines of code (not a programmer, just a noob analysis).

Hello-Again Shree💝and as promised, I've got a Story about this Movie that I know will Interest You.👌Back when they were Test-Screening, there was an issue with the Sacrificing of Russell Casse (Randy Quaid's character). In the Original Script, the Air Force refuses to let Russell fly with them, which-then leads Russell to strapping a Missile onto his Red Airplane, and flying that into the Final Battle (Kamikaze-style)! Russell's Sacrifice was meant to be a Heroic Moment, however the Test-Screen Audience responded so-negatively to the Original Version, that (thankfully) they decided to change it during the reshoots. The Final Version (as You've seen) has Russell flying a Fighter Jet instead, and going Kamikaze becomes a last-minute act of desperation...because the Missile fails to fire. Audiences have always been Happier with this Ending for Russell's Story, however that Original Version is available to view. . .

Oh wow! Thank goodness they changed the original script, the latter was a much better ending 👌 thanks for sharing!

The original ending involving Russel Casse was changed. The change starts where he volunteers, and is accepted ("I can fly, I'm pilot"). In the original version he is rejected. Then in the battle where all is lost, he shows up in his biplane with a missile strapped to it, and delivers the fatal strike to the aliens. Problem is he knows that he's going to die going into it. The story was changed so that he's in the battle, and you get to see him make the decision.

at the time Arthur Clark described the film as full of clichés, and only one new idea - the use of the computer virus. I would say: it is true, but these same clichés were used in the best way, and created a masterpiece.

The special effects gave them a well deserved Oscar! The destruction of the enemy base was nothing short of beautiful. The movie lets us know about the importance of team work and how we need to rely on each other in hard times.

I once had a very cool idea of how the whole thing could have been made more exciting. They are called the "Harvesters" I called them the Yozians in my script... a race from the other end of our galaxy... they were once slaves, but the royal family and their rebels managed to overcome their tormentors and protect their entire civilization to save them from extinction.. now they are nomads who travel through space.. to keep themselves and their ships alive, they need the energy of planets. In the 1950s, the royal family were captured and have been held captive in Area 51 ever since, and the destruction of Earth was actually intended as a rescue mission. So a way to coexistence could have been found. "Peace? NO PEACE!" because they don't know what peace is ..and every intelligent species will destroy either itself or others..that's a natural law in the universe...

That is such a detailed and well thought out backstory for the alien species! If you're not a professional screenwriter yet then you have to give it a go 👏

It's been a long time since the whole idea of Area 51 has had an once of credibility, to me. I mean it's a place where aircraft prototypes undergo _testing._ Time was, it was rumored as a place where aircraft utilizing _extraterrestrial_ technology was tested. Time was, it was rumored to be a place where officials from extraterrestrial races and the US would _meet,_ and it was chosen for this because it's so far removed from _civilization._ But there is no place on the _surface_ of the Earth as private and unobserved as our ocean _depths,_ to which the US Navy has more access than _anyone._ So if you're going to conduct some kind of meeting between US officials and extraterrestrial officials that you don't want the general public to see, _that's_ the place to do it. Don't put that meeting on an Air Force base, miles away from the nearest town. Put it on a _submarine,_ a few hundred feet _deep._

Namaste 🙏. This movie is pure popcorn. Evil aliens, explosions, action, conspiracy theory, heart tugs, comedic relief, and a rousing “Aragorn” speech. I quite agree that Jasmine and her son (plot armour) would have been crisped in that explosion. Fire is fluid and would have engulfed that space like a tsunami. The fellow with the gravelly voice that you liked is Harvey Fierstein. He is a well known stage and movie actor. If you would like to see more of his work may I recommend the movie of his play Torch Song Trilogy (1988), the Robin Williams movie Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) and Woody Allen’s Bullets Over Broadway (1993). Seeing how smitten you became over Jeff Goldblum may I also recommend two of his earlier films-Transylvania 6-5000 (1985) and Earth Girls are Easy (19880. 🙏Best of the Holiday Season to you and your family.🙏

Will Smith has long been a _very_ popular actor. The same can be said of Jeff Goldblum. There are only _two_ movies, though, that have _both_ of them. Being famous means an actor commands a higher _salary._

From the tech side of things, Apple is very proprietary and does not easily work with other systems, if at all. So it's funny that one of the things a Mac can actually connect to is a completely alien computer system.
