jdm603jake Yes !! The best year STi in my biased opinion ! Light weight , no traction control at all , DCCD and performance that is still near the top of even modern day rally bred cars , they still use the same motor pretty much save some internals and pumps. Use these videos to make your STi rock solid , do the AVCS screen removal , oil catch or separators , change the coolant and get a Cobb AP . Enjoy your beast !

Subbed man, great video and hope to see more! I own a 1997 Subaru 2.5 RS...my favorite year, but just need to swap the engine and transmission to the STI version. Would be great if you did a video on the best engines to swap into your subie and what to look for when buying an engine/transmission for your car. Cheers!
@svtwrc7 жыл бұрын
Thanks you Losha!! Love the RS , got outbid on EBay for one in 2009 and I'm still upset about it. Don't currently know anyone doing a swap . Maybe in the future but transmissions are tough to buy ,unless you have it in the car to drive it. Opening the trans up may let you know if syncro and gears are visibly worn out .

advantage08357 hi there a 2006WRX is a great car. It has a 2.5 L way better than the 2 L.pretty much the same layout as the STI but just a smaller turbo ,intercooler , and engine internals are different.something to watch out for is if it has the air pump for the exhaust those may have a check engine light issue and you may not be able to get it inspected be careful and good luck let me know how goes

Buying an 05 sti soon but was wondering I live in arizona is this kind of car bad to go buy from a snow state. I hear alot of horrors with rust issues when buying from these states but I figure this car should definitely be ok from that being its part rally. Also when buying one whats your maximum allowed miles for these before saying no and would you recommend buying it if it had 2-3 owners already
@svtwrc7 жыл бұрын
Young Gsp hey now! Funny you should ask about rust , just put up a video on areas to look for. As long as it’s surface rust and hasn’t worked it’s way int anything structural , shouldn’t be an issue. The rustoleum rust reformer is amazing sand will keep the metal from oxidizing further.

finding low mileage 02 -06 WRX and STi that have under 25thousand miles. Those are garage kept and some still had the original tires from the factory ! Its harder to find than abused ones but they are out there.

Are those red Pipes the Header pipes that give the subaru the Uneqal Header length sound? Or are they under the engine? Also, i bought a WRX STi 2003 model from a guy for 1,100 dollars, it's all fine apart fro the gear box died. Can you tell me approx how much a new one will cost and the parts for it, and how long it will take me to replace it? Then also how much approx it will add to the 1,100 price tag i paid for it>? Thanks Great vid.
@svtwrc6 жыл бұрын
Anthony Quigley 2003 STi do not exist in North America unless it is rare import or a swapped motor . One can buy a motor from Japan and install it a North American sold chassis. WRX is sold in America in 2003 but not until 2004 did the STi come over.If your in the UK then yes you have a 2003 STi. The six speed 6MT is pretty expensive even used it may be a few thousand. The red piping on my STi is an Intake manifold, the headers are under the car in front. You may see piping that replaces the top mount intercooler with a front mount on other cars.

04 forester XT, same engine setup I’ve bin told. However it’s a transmission problem that I’m having. 1st gear is hard to get into sometimes and more so when slowing down to a crawl. Any ideas?
@svtwrc6 жыл бұрын
Arlanzo Myers hello there , two things I’m thinking of one is change out the transmission fluid to a Subaru High performance gear oil . It has been well known to stop the 1st gear toughness you can do a small google search. The next but probably not is the synchro ring may have some worn out “teeth” and it’s binding a touch but I would go with the fluid first as it is the cheaper of the two.
@SleepingSniper6 жыл бұрын
SVTWRC thank you. I’ll try the fluids first and go from there.

I have a question regarding to some oil leaks since you mention it in your video. There's oil dripping on both sides underneath the car. For the passenger side, it looks like it's leaking where the headers are? I can't see it too well because I believe the heat shield is blocking. But when I use a flashlight, I can see some oil. What could that possibly be? On the driver side, it looks like a valve cover gasket leak because it's leaking oil more on the side where the spark plugs are at. I need an idea what to look at and how hard is it to fix? Please let me know. I'm sitting at about 80-85k on a rebuilt motor btw.
@svtwrc7 жыл бұрын
Hey there! That front header leak can be the front oil tube thats right above the header small rubber hose gets hot over time. The other leak is classic valve cover leak. The front oil hose is a pain with the radiator in but the valve covers i have a video for.

I read that they like to rust inside the rear fender, where the suspension is mounted to the frame. Did you have such an issue with your car, or do you know anything more specific on it?
@svtwrc7 жыл бұрын
Not too common but it's all about where in the salt belt you live and how well it was taken care of. Some can tend to have rusted out towers for the struts .

You might not know this dude, but for about 2-3 seconds after the impreza comes to live after you turn it on, underneath the burble of the engine, you can here a kind of fairly high pitched sound like almost exactly the same as what R2D2 sounds like when he's rolling around, what that noise is it the Fuel pump send fuel to the motoe to be used. Once you hear that 2-3 second whining noise RIGHT as you start your fuel pump and fuel system are fine.

how are you using the V2 AP ?:( mine wont connect to ap manager and i can not get my new wrx down to stock unless i buy a V3 for like 650$ fml
@svtwrc4 жыл бұрын
Nahuel Figueroa hi . You need to figure out if the access port and AP manager are updated. Also what year Subaru do you have new ones probably can only run the V3 but because it’s older it works.

Keenan Yoseph he’ll, that pill is almost like a fuel regulator but the pill regulates how much boost the reference line uses in sync with the boost solenoid. Cobb tuning has a lot about it on their site.

Hi svtwrc I'm going to be looking at a 07 this Thursday and wanted your input on a video/sound bite of it's engine startup kzbin.info/www/bejne/bX2VpYGFeMuLsNE it does take an extra second to start up does this sound like a red flag and if it does do you know what I would be looking at to fix it? any tips will be vary appreciated.
@svtwrc6 жыл бұрын
WolfPunk44O Hello wolf that STI sounded great that long start wouldn’t even worry about it mine does that a lot every once in a while it’ll start right up every once in a while to take a few cranks I don’t think it’s anything but cold cranking amps ,length between starts ect...don’t think it’s an issue . They have generally Tikki idols but the text should be coming from the fuel injectors and maybe for a good minute on start up if you’re using a thicker oil even like a 530 with some additive packets will take a little longer to get through to the engine if all the oils drained off the top of the motor . Injectors are allowed on STI‘s even stock your exhaust sounded great didn’t sound like there any misses
