Holy shit. I didnt think a rebuild was that much but basically you went with everything brand new so it should last a long time

jesus i spent 5.6k to rebuild my evo 8 motor forged bottom end gsc s2 cams etc blocks good for 750hp damm i would of just bought a jdm 205 1500 out the door.

I mean look how old he is with access to that kind of money I'm surprised somebody didn't burn him for a JDM swap with low miles
@jwolff91537 жыл бұрын
Love what you did. Lots of dedication. My biggest question is why didn't you go with the ej255 block? Higher displacement for more low end power and increased spool time. Not to mention it's a semi closed block making it a LOT safer when putting power down
@WCKDStreetMedia7 жыл бұрын
jwolff9153 mainly just for cost reasons, everything I priced up for a 2.5 was more than I wanted to pay. May have plans in the future for a better set up though 🤔
@jwolff91537 жыл бұрын
WCKD Street Media i get that. I just spun a bearing before I even got my temp tags off the car. Lol. So needless to say a week after buying the car in on a budget. I have a jdm ej205 on it's way now. If i had the money I would've just bought a ej207 v7. I look forward to going through the rest of your videos and seeing what you do next

Was the 6100 price including all the labor and stuff?

I’m in the middle of a JDM EJ205 with AVCS swap in my 03 bugeye. I’m keeping my USDM ECU because my accessport won’t work w a JDM ECU. Do really have to swap the intake manifold and exhaust manifold on top of the cams, pulley, and sensors? Motor has 45k miles on it. Compression is great. I’ve spent almost $3k on motor, new parts/upgrades, and labor fees. The new motor is about to go in in a week or so.

A cracked a lot more than just at 1:14 every time he started introducing new parts it cracked. But hey what were you rocking at that age? It must be so nice to be a 17 year old kid and go out and pick pretty much any used car you want within reason blow it up and I rebuild the whole thing again all probably before your 21th birthday, geez. I know I bought my first car 84 Camaro Berlinetta V6 w/automatic of course was Cherry to me but it wasn't no all wheel drive turbo car
@jacknelson94407 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you decide to do a JDM ej205, they are about $1500 complete
@robdog92657 жыл бұрын
I just did a JDM ej205 swap, and yes it is cheaper, but it is a way higher risk, they come with about 70,000 kms on them, and are actually around 3000 all said and done, with clutch and necessary parts. the way he did it, it allowed him a clean slate
@WCKDStreetMedia7 жыл бұрын
+Jack Nelson buying a JDM motor would be a huge headache, every part would have to be converted to usdm parts, much easier going with usdm parts
@robdog92657 жыл бұрын
WCKD Street Media you only have to convert the crank gear and 1 cam gear
@jwolff91537 жыл бұрын
Not if you get an avcs model. If you get the avcs model they're pretty much plug and play. You would need a custom tune because the compression ratio of the jdm ej205 is 9.1 as opposed to the usdm 8.1. But you have the option of adding the avcs later on with a harness and jdm ecu. That's more power and quicker spool times.

More like why didn't you buy a car that doesn't break every 2 seconds. I live in Colorado, the Subaru capitol of the WORLD, and they are the biggest pieces of shit I've ever seen. At least 1 out of 3 for sale on Denver Craigslist has a new engine, or transmission, or head gasket, etc, etc. I'm buying a 370Z because I don't need all wheel drive to hold my hand and I want a car that's actually reliable and sounds good. I have yet to hear a Subaru that sounded good to me. They sound like Vipers that haven't hit puberty.

Good video as usual. I'm liking your cinematography. There is another KZbinr I follow named Daniel Marsh. He has some great videos in terms of cinematography. I am suggesting his videos because I think coupled with the talent that you have plus some things that you could probably learn from him would be great. By the way, that was an awful lot of money but my motto is if you got it, go for it!
@adanalquicira27807 жыл бұрын
That's what I'm doing right now lol 1200 for me roughly about 40k miles and just replacing gasket belts etc maintenance stuff as long and the compression is good it will end up costing my about 1500 for everything
@WCKDStreetMedia7 жыл бұрын
+adan alquicira good luck! Now that we've done this ourselves we appreciate anyone who tries this! Not easy!

Hey btw was there anything to look out for when pulling the engine like plugs etc that could make it a faster process
@WCKDStreetMedia7 жыл бұрын
+adan alquicira the main thing that held us back was the clutch fork rod. There's a hex plug next to the starter and it's behind that.
@adanalquicira27807 жыл бұрын
Hey what is the warranty on the block like from that place??
@WCKDStreetMedia7 жыл бұрын
I believe that it is a 3 year warranty as long as the block is stock and it goes in the car it was designed for. Kinda sucks if you wanted to build it or put it in something else, but pretty sure thats their policy.

Loved the whole rebuild series. Unrelated to the engine build, how much did you pay for the STi style spoiler? They seem super expensive whenever I looked online.
@WCKDStreetMedia7 жыл бұрын
The STi spoiler was actually on the car when I bought it. But I have seen that they are pretty expensive to get.

I'm just now starting a new build on my 06 sti it's my first build and I'm looking between 8-9k for everything. I'm going with a stage 2 block from rev works.
@Cali_MD6 жыл бұрын
My 04 STI is getting built now. Costing 16k for all the machine work, forged internals, machine heads with valve job, fuel and turbo upgrades, the deletes, ported polished etc. also having the transmission rebuilt since it grinds in 4th. I live in an apartment otherwise I’d do it myself. The only labor I’d save for doing it myself is roughly $2,100. Most of that cost is machine shop and parts. It’s expensive but I couldn’t be happier about it. I can’t wait to get it back.

Let me make this fast and easy for you if you buy a WRX 02 to about 2012 and it's used it has more than 80,000 miles on it if it is ever seen a single mod just one it is done do not buy a running Subaru WRX of those years just buy one with a blown motor and understand you were going to have to do it anyways don't pay for a running car if it's some heavily modded past 80k. Or maybe it's been rebuilt a hundred thousand miles ago and yeah the turbo thing always pisses me off people spend bearings and blow their engines and don't replace the turbo understand if you see new motor and you don't see a new Turbo you're going to be doing that too. And don't give me that crap about my WRX has 200k on it and everything is going fine it is possible but that's a unicorn at this point. It's very difficult to find one in the chances are very slim if it's been modded you're in a lot of trouble the car is fantastic and probably the most fun and Powerful car I've ever driven doll the drive is amazing I'm not dissing the car in any way but I think people that own them and sell them have no idea what they're doing unless you're fully committed to rebuilding the entire car do not buy one. And the sad thing is you're not even into the transmission yet those years are famous for having glass Transmissions I know when mine my transmission was rebuilt twice and I had a clutch job done too the clutch job is going to cost you about 1700 Transmissions going to cost you about 2400 that's if you put it in yourself I had a 2005 STI that I bought used at 30 k got in paper in writing that it was never modded that was their mistake it was heavily modded it's spun a rod 2 miles from the dealership over the next 3 years of the warranty how lucky was I that I signed a lifetime warranty minutes before you never know but over the next 3 years the dealership and Subaru spent 18k fixing the car new rear end transmission engine Turbo transaxle clutch air conditioning power steering control arms and a few other things like ECU catalytic converter system it's kind of funny I bought the car for $14,000 and because they didn't go over it really good they spent more than I bought it for to fix it and the second that warranty was up I sold that thing because I saw what it cost to fix it.
@olidd19945 жыл бұрын
I live in Germany and im thinking of buying one (wrx prodrive no sti), so u dont recomend buying any wrx of that time, even if its not modded? the one im looking for is a 2007 model with ~50k miles (78k kilometers) not modded except a new exhaust system? you really got me thinking, because from what if heard so far they are said to be bullet proof if you treat them right greetings
@Nova-ne1il5 жыл бұрын
oli dd honestly if you do the research on the vehicle and truly is unmodded at 76 k and it has an extensive oil change history that's actually not terrible that actually might be a decent car till about a hundred and 20K but that is only if you can absolutely and you must be very prescient about it absolutely certain it was never modified lots of people pull the mods off to sell it I can agree if that is what it is that's not a bad idea I'm in America it's practically a unicorn to find an unmolested WRX and as far as bulletproof goes it is far from that understand that first and foremost I will tell you that the transmissions on those years have problems synchronizers in 2nd gear and 3rd gear are glass they do go out an absolutely check that clutch out that is an extremely expensive job I would highly suggest going to a Subaru dealership and having the car checked no matter what the scenario have a Subaru dealership inspect a vehicle before you buy it it's a lot of money that you'll be spending on this car but if something's hiding in it you will be on the line for a lot of money and a car that can't run don't get me wrong I love these cars I have 1 but I don't Kid myself about the downfalls basically you understand you are buying a Porsche at 1/4 to cost that comes with a cost but if you truly can find an unmolested one under 70,000 miles at a decent price I would absolutely pay for that these cars are only gaining value and in time I believe they will be classics if you have any hesitation about the one you're buying feel free to ask I am an auto tech
@Nova-ne1il5 жыл бұрын
And as far as a new exhaust system as long as it's a factory stock system from Subaru you're okay anything else and you need to understand that the ECU cannot compensate for a high-flow exhaust the engine will run lean this engine is already pushed near Max if it runs lean you can absolutely destroy the engine in order to run a modified exhaust you need to have the ECU flashed buy a reputable Subaru tuner not just any tuner will do and don't touch that cobb stuff
@Nova-ne1il5 жыл бұрын
Trust me they are not Bulletproof look up tsb's they have leaky fuel lines under the manifold and if you're living somewhere where there's weather you need to check the wheel wells for rust I'm in Arizona and I've seen rust on WRX has that means if you have any weather rust maybe a serious issue on WRX
@olidd19945 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the information! yeah your right nearly every wrx i found, even the pricy ones are somehow modified. and my budget is only 11k so its probably impossible to get a good one. but i ll keep my eyes open

Always, ALWAYS use OEM gasket kits on Subarus, especially for the waterpump, OEM waterpump gasket is metal and non OEM is paper, metal gasket is much better for waterpumps.
