Just finished #2 This was a good tutorial Tim. Your such a tallent. Your art and the patients you have with all of your followers here and on fb is very impressive. Also i think you have the most content here on KZbin than any other airbrush tuber.

I hated art at school, but I picked up a pencil in my 30s and began drawing and painting mostly birds. I was getting ok at this (according to my kids, who were in their teens). I stopped again due to a serious operation, which left a partial paralyses. I am 70 years old this year and I am trying to get going again, I have 3 airbrushes (good ones), but I cannot seem to draw properly. I am a young 70, as I still ride my motorcycle and build bikes as a hobby, I also play the keyboard, therefore dimensia has not set in yet. I find your tutorials brilliant, with a beautiful work of art at the end. I just hope I live long enough to become half as good as you.

Hi Douglas! I am always encouraged by your comments and that you enjoy my videos. You are a true artist and find your creative outlet in many things such as playing the keyboard and building bikes (which is very cool). As painters, we are all works in progress. We will both grow as artists together.

Douglas, Timothy is an professional artist. He developed his technique and improved skills over years, using the best airbrushes and equipment suiting his working method. I envy him for his steady hand, to shell out those delicate details without masking. This is exceptional. You don't have to do it exactly the same way, if you can't do it - like me: Most of the time I am cutting masks. Applying ink using the airbrush takes much shorter. One thing is extremely important: take your time. Don't hurry. You are not taking a photograph, the picture is in your head. You decide where the focus and detail needs to be and what the viewer can see and has to focus on. That is the big difference to taking a photo: it will look almost look the same, when using the same camera. But a drawing using the same pencil or brush never will :-)

Teaching art always depends on the teacher. You may like it or you hate it. I had a teacher who did not believe me, that I've drawn the picture. After changing school I had a teacher, who was an real artist. I always got best grades. Same school, other teacher: my drawing skills were better than before, but rated below average. So don't worry: if you and the people you do your paintings for like what you are doing averything is fine. My father (a set designer) always said, that it is important that there should be no doubt about it who's done the piece of art. "You must be true to yourself and identical. Use the work of others for inspiration, but don't copy!"

Hi Steffen, thank you so much for the encouraging words. You are very correct that we must take our time and let our selves create art that is all of our own and not worry about copying the photograph exactly. It is what makes our art human and not mechanical.

you use @ 0:56 Transparent Pyrrole Orange 2384 Series 5 im trying to get it but it seems it was discontinued in 2017, hmm, whats a good alternative ? im guessing the non transparent variant ? thanks
@TimothyJohnLukeSmithPSA5 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob, if you are using Golden, you can get the regular Pyrrole Orange in the Fluid Acrylics line and use it as transparent color.

@@TimothyJohnLukeSmithPSA im using vallejo paints i bought for painting my 3D prints, models etc, not sure they are suitable, they are acrylic air.. but having major problems painting, think its just be being clueless tho .

@@RobBob555 Hi Rob, don't give up. remember, just as in the black and white, the color needs to be light in the beginning and very slowly go darker. Play with the paint and the airbrush, control comes with time.

@@TimothyJohnLukeSmithPSA Hi Tim, i guess i just overdid it, as soon as one failed i started another, 2 days and like 5 failed portraits later, im exhausted.. funny thing is the first airbrusing painting i did the other day went smoothly, no issues at all..i think smooth skined female models are easier, or i was just lucky... i will try again, maybe tomorrow, the REAL issue is i have no idea what colours to mix.. and so i just keep whacking on paint to try and fix it, of course, this does not work.. i guess, i have to remember its all practice , im wasting frisket etc tho :O( should i buy golden fluid paint ? will that help ? thanks buddy

Hey Timothy, you need to make the circle zoom the area, at the moment it's 1 to 1. It might be better 2 to 1.

Hi Joseph, That is very good feedback and advice. I will definitely look for that in the next one.
