Ah, I love watching a good dozer man work. I grew up on and around dozers, scrapers, backhoes and skidsteers, used to ride with dad when I was small enough to half lay on the armrest of his D6D Cat and sleep while we ran back and forth all day. That darn dozer would rock me asleep in 20 minutes. Bought my first dozer in 1997 and been doing custom work myself ever since. Now I farm and run livestock more than I run the equipment but it's a nice skill set to have at your beck and call around a ranch.

These pond videos are so helpful for me. I bought a property with a pond; the more I learn from you guys, the more I know that my pond was poorly designed. Will be planning out how to modify my pond to be more like yours. Thanks!

I don't blame the boys for looking over their shoulders when that dozer was coming. They did a nice job. Could you notch the cap so it would go around the rods and fit completely on??

Hey Mr.Judy Looks exactly as you described. It's understood that if one has never experienced ground work that there appears to be big gaps in info. My advice. Next time one drives by a construction site that is just starting. Stop and make a mental note. Then stop by every day and watch the change. Read some books on civil engineering. That should help. When Mr.Judy instructs Isaac and Ben on the glueing process. All of that is critical to success. However I know almost nothing about a farm. Most.of what I have learned is from watching Mr.Judy and a few others like him. This may not have the scenic allure of the other videos. Yet this is extremely important.

Thanks for showing us the steps to getting this water source installed on the farm. Great videos. Great Bulldozer driver. Heavy machinery earthworks craftsmen are incredible and invaluable. I can sense the respect and deep appreciation you have for Jonny. So happy to see all the great personal connection. Thanks a million Greg! Sure Grateful for you!🙏😊

Not pounding the rods in enough is actually a blessing for us all because we all now know the reason to get it down far enough. We will all do it right when our time comes.

Greg, Thanks for the video, Its great to see your dam building process after reading your books. If you like these videos folks - you will love Greg's books, they are spewing with that exuberant optimism. One thing I would like to *humbly* mention to keep in mind with the soil compaction. It looks to be pretty dry clay, if you were building a steeper dam, had a taller embankment or made more disturbance of the native soil it would help to add a bit of water to each lift that the dozer pushes up and maybe even get a sheep's foot compactor. Soak it just enough to make the clay want to ball up and have a bit of a sheen on the tracked surface. With a more optimum moisture content you would achieve higher compaction and have a more secure embankment. But in this case it appears to be good compaction around the valve judging by the lack of disturbance to the native soil on the embankment and how many hammer blows the fiberglass rods took!

I so appreciate your Teaching style - you encourage them when it's right ( never heard so many perfects in other videos) and you are patient teacher. I have 5 kids who can't get enough of learning everything and the secret is work with them and encourage Them - I expect a lot, and they give it to me and I don't let their work go unappreciated because they are integral parts and contribute hugely to the family and they know it!!

Mr. Judy, my son and I built a livestock watering pond. We put a 2" waterline through the dam and ran it to 2 waters. The waterers provide 3 paddocks, the pond has a ramp in it to provide 2 paddocks. My question is you didn't need a anti-seep collar on your 2" pipe.

Whane, I've barely just started, and I can't answer that, but I think without more information about your place. No one will be able to help you answer that. You could be getting 15 inches of rain a year or 50. Holistic management is a tough read, but it's been helpful to me, and I recommend picking up a copy. Good luck.

We have tons of ponds with 2" pvc pipe through the dam. No issues with watering large herds. Just need to ensure your tank is 800 gallons and use a 2" brass valve to supply it.
