Part 2: Overhauling C-182 Nose Strut

Jason, does Cessna have an o,h manual, or is the procedure in the standard mm? Also, it would be good for you to show the mm in your videos.

The Cessna service manual mentions 2 options for disassembly of the strut; on or off the airplane. The procedure they describe is the way I did it this time. For reassembly they just say installation is the reverse of removal. There is no mention if the parts needed, that’s all found in the illustrated parts catalog but most of the O-ring part numbers have been superseded from AN numbers to MS numbers.

How did the take off and landing "shimmy" damping turn out since the overhaul ?

Honestly it’s not great. Worse than before, I’m thinking because of the added mass to the nose. Considering options to include a lighter weight tire and further shimming of the scissor and steering collar.
