This is the exact carb I just got for $25. I checked everything you said and it definitely is rebuildable. Thanks for the great details and I'll continue to watch.

Gooday AAA! Big Colt Industries admirer for 50 yrs. I would like to see the teflon bushings for the throttle shafts (on most of the Holley 4150/60/65 ...carbs) used & not just because they are included in all Holley carb kits that I've used but when you soak the the throttle plate assembly in carb cleaner it will rot them out & the Holley put back together without new bushings , could & probably still work other than intended . Then a lot of (ignorant that's a bit too harsh) less knowledgeable people bad mouth Holley Carbs that were good old Henry's choice on his Autos since day one because they rebuilt them & they work worse or still not any better than before ! I've rebuilt Holleys with the Holley kits for a reason & that's because the gaskets U get with the Asian kits the gaskets fit poorly or need work & often just a different material ie. plastic under the float bowl screws instead of gasket paper material I used last century . LOL aka Hot Shot , the Motor Mouse SBC . I don't know if anybody ever reads these things , here's a few neat facts Ford is the only car company in the states not to go bankrupt (besides Tesla) and Chevrolet would be the top of the heap without the monetary woes if it had simply educated their mechanics (money ?)with their fuel injection advancements started in 1957 with 283 /283 H.P. (another first H.P. equals the displacement) and instead of delaying fuel injection on production cars for approx 30/40 years . Thank You & Gooday James T. Burke Halifax N.S. P.S. AND NOW A BIT OF RAMBLING OFF THE SUBJECT The Home of the single biggest explosion before the nuclear bomb we survived it & now the commies run our port & it's just starting to show some 50 years since they tried to got in here . I guess that's is because we are not strong enough to speak for ourselves & our counties are being run by God only knows what ,with our bent authorities , it's not natural or good for any us. I hope our Christian brotherhood overcomes these bastards tearing at the very fabric of society our forefathers fought so hard for & died for & send them all to Hell with their golden calf or we are going to end up like so many societies before us that came & went in time . 2022 November 1 A.D.

I'm sorry James I looked at repairing the throttle plates and to do it right it just gets to expensive and time consuming.

Excellent video what size is that flapper wheel? I will check with Ace Hardware or Harbor Freight. I have used mag wheel spray cleaner for the venturi to remove the black carbon film if my solvent tank does not get it all clean.

I'll look and see if the numbers are still there , I start off with coarse and go to fine.

Do you have any tips for a 2bbl Holley 4412 for performance? Been watching you for a while now and love the info! Thanks so much!

Air horn removal , blending and polishing venturi , aligning throttle plate to main body and thinning throttle shafts and installing thin throttle blades and button head screws, then tuning to the engine package.hope this helps.

Hi , my name is Danny from east of Los Angeles , my 68 Chevy pu has a holly 650 vacuum secondary, it is back firing when I accelerate, I didn’t see a baffle when I had the bowl & metering block off , can that be the problem , I’ve put many of the gaskets on my carb and a needle and seat , Thank You
@holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90 Жыл бұрын
That shouldn't cause your problem , I would look at the accelerator pump squirter, turn engine off while looking down the inside of the carburetor and opening the throttle are the nozzles squirting fuel if they are, then look at the spark plugs to see if there are black if so this will cause the motor to back fire, replace spark plugs and check carburetor for problems runnimg rich and check for weak ignition system. Possible weak coil. Hope this helps.

Randy with the price of 850 baseplates what do you think of boring out the existing baseplate and putting in 1 3/4" throttle blades?
@holleycarbshowtosadvice40y903 жыл бұрын
I've never tried that , don't know.

Question....Do you soak your parts in carb soak, like Gunk carb soak, or do you just spray them?
@holleycarbshowtosadvice40y902 жыл бұрын
Its according to how dirty they are , I do them both ways. When I'm through cleaning I look for any defects , then I pin gauge every orfice , then assemble.
@robvine44132 жыл бұрын
where did you get your gauge drills from in the red kit , got a manufactures name ,thankyou
@holleycarbshowtosadvice40y902 жыл бұрын
I ordered mine off Amazon, look up gauge pins usually about 25.00 for the small kit .011 to .060 thousandths.
