Hi Angus, Thank you for your kind comment. Maki loves editing and we are truly enjoying our Leopard 45 catamaran. Very, very solid well built boat and well laid out. When we decided to do this adventure with our children, finding the "right" boat took a while. Safety and comfort were at the top of our list. The Leopard 45 checks all the boxes for us and is a fantastic sailing boat. There are many days we are zipping right along, engines off and nothing but the sound of the water flying behind us. That front cockpit seems perfect for sailing with kids, they have no reason to walk along the edge when under sail even to see dolphins! Beautiful video and I enjoyed the music choices. Must be nice to finally be able to start to move around and perfect timing with the hurricane season coming to Florida soon. Look forward to your next video. It is nice seeing you learning with the captain, although I have sailed a lot on sailing dinghies I have not sailed yachts yet, and my goal is to move onto one and live and cruise. So seeing you all just starting out is cool!

We love our Leopard 45 and yes having the front cockpit to walk through is definitely way safer than any of us walking the outer decks during passage. It's super safe especially for the boys to be able to walk through. Both Maki and I have been sailing for over 4 years on and off but we decided to have Captain Richard with us for an extended period since this is the first boat we've ever actually owned and we are now doing longer coastal, offshore and night sailing. He's an incredible teacher and mentor to have with us....the best! Stay focused on your goal and before you know it, you'll be sailing on your very own sailboat! All the best and stay safe! ~Andy

Wow great video. My grand daughter and I are headed to Charleston SC on July 2 for the holidays. Beautiful scenery down there. It takes us about 6 hrs to drive from our home and just the drive is beautiful. Be safe in SC have lots of COVID there but a beautiful place to visit. Hi. First your story telling is getting better and better every video. This one was really your best so far. Thank you. One thought from someone who grew up on my parents boat, is clear you're still nervous for the boys (I have twin boys a little younger and I totally get it!). But in fair seas, on a cat the chances of them falling overboard is incredibly low. It's not easy but they need to learn to move about the boat underway, to trust their instincts and muscle memory. Pretty soon they probably won't be in life jackets in the day time in normal seas. The other thing was for me that my dad taught me to be his crew alongside him when he was learning. We had a set time for knot practice, I worked the sails, could steer, and understood the basics of what everything did (admittedly the boats were simpler then). When I was ten he slipped a disk on passage of the Scottish coast. I brought the boat in. I tacked, put in a reef, took in sails and docked (with coast guard standing by). I'd never sailed solo before but he'd always involved me from day one. Watching the Mother ship adrift channel I see that they take the same approach and i maybe you are too but it's not coming across in the videos. My very humble recommendation for what it is worth, is to start educating your boys to be crewmen and not just passengers.

Hi Adam, thank you for your great comment! We really appreciate it. First, it's great to hear of your childhood boating experience with your family and how amazing for you to not only have the knowledge but the bravery to bring your family boat into port when your dad hurt himself. You are absolutely right about making the kids on board a part of the crew and we do need to show much more of this on our videos. We actually have included the boys from day one and they absolutely love having the chance to help with the lines, steering, setting the course or waypoints etc etc. Last year we enrolled our boys into a sailing program so they already had a foundation of knowledge and a little experience when they stepped on board OliLuki. Future videos you'll see more of this as we've filmed them practicing their knots, prepping for departure or docking and so on. For life vests......our boys are very inquisitive and want to be a part of everything which translates into them moving around the boat sometimes faster than I'd like. Until they get older, the rule on our boat is that when the boat is moving and they want to be outside, they must have their vests on. In addition to some of the great features of the Spinlock brand of vests, we bought these vests for them because they are very comfortable to wear all day long and they usually forget they even have them on. I'm actually surprised by this comment, in part. I'm binging all the videos to get caught up overnight. I have been clearly under the impression that these boys very much take part in every aspect of this new life. I have not once assumed that they don't based on the few times I have seen them learning knots, cooking, manning the helm, etc. I just never expected it to be filmed every time just as I wouldn't expect to see them doing school work in every video (but, we know they are homeschooled). That being said, I do agree they need a little more freedom to move about and gain their sea legs. And, I do get mom and dad being a little over protective about that just starting out. I see these boys doing twice as much on their boat at such a young age than most other channels allow their older kids to do. One last thing.... me personally, anytime they are outside the cockpit, it's never "over protective" for them to wear their vests while underway, in any sea state 🤷‍♂️

The watch is the Garmin Fenix 5. It's a great and rugged watch.....also waterproof I believe to 100m. If you plan to be out on your own boat, you may want to look at the Quatix 5 as you can view and control some features of the Garmin electronics on a boat such as the autopilot etc. I try to use as many features of the watch as possible but it's loaded with many many features. Captain Richard is fantastic and even though we had sailed both mono haul and Catamarans in the past, once we bought our own boat we really wanted a professional captain aboard to help us get comfortable with our specific boat and of course our we learned a lot more from him as well. We have found that the going rates are roughly between $350 -$500 daily + travel expenses. A good investment all around we believe. Hi Richard, we love our Code 0 and find it easy to use. At the moment it's in the locker so I can't get to it however it is from the factory and I believe it is Ullman. We tested it when Captain Richard was with us and found we could use it from 60 to 140 degree wind angles!

Sailing SV OliLuki hey hey! All is good, I can tell she’s working really hard on the edits! Great job! Like the transition, drone footage is alway a plus especially the end scenes. Add in some more wides of the boat...send a GoPro up on the sail to look done you’ll get some sick perspectives from above. Keep up the hard work, the vids keep getting better. Less is more, like how she’s Moving the pace along with some time lapse or speed footage. Don’t get married to a shot cut and go, keep to a core and move on. All in all it’s getting better. Actually it was in extended quarantine due to the fact that it came in from the Bahamas. I spoke with a crew member on the mid level deck and he invited us to look around at the boat from the dock level. Anyway thank you for your comment....we do agree with you. The L45....we love it. Also, just be aware that the crew don't own the yacht and unless the Captain gives permission, the crew are no better than a housekeeper giving permission to the neighbours to check out your assets. This is just a small side issue as we enjoy your videos and look forward to your adventure with your wife and enthusiastic sons. Sailing is a wonderful platform to learn about weather, people, technical and mechanical issues and many other things. Keep up the great work.🌬⛵😎🌴
