Great video and very helpful tips! What I recommend is to change your Tab button from "target enemy" to "target enemy player", this way you won't be targeting pets after you've lost your main target. Helpful against hunters and mages

Since you seem to be having trouble with frost mages as 5.5k gs, I'll give you a strat I tend to use that works well. Run full PvE gear. You need damage to break his 2x ice barriers on Warmane's Blackrock realm due to pre-duel cds. Open with premed + ambush. This next step depends on a few things as well as your own reaction time. If his barrier remains intact and he has no fingers of frost/frostbite proc, evis him to break barrier. If fingers/frostbite does proc, you need to forfeit that eviscerate and go for another ambush before going into cloak. If we're talking about mages who aren't average, i.e. they're spamming deep freeze the whole time waiting for a shattered barrier/fingers/frostbite proc, you're going to have to cloak much earlier than this as you spam damage, it usually gives out the same result of them blocking. If we're talking about the first scenario where you can ambush and evis at the very start, shattered barrier procs, vanish it and open with another ambush. It's quite likely at this point he has fingers proc from your abilities and autos, so use cloak before using another eviscerate. Due to full PvE, this tends to drop them to almost about half health, although even if they rebarrier and you didn't drop them this low, it's still fine, just read on. The pressure at the start was intended for him to feel pressured into using ice block when we use our cloak, which is what we want. After he comes out of block, blind him and do something to bait his trinket (first aid or pretend like you're going to go reset and move away from him, I often find the 2nd option better so you're not in range of frost nova, also seems more of an urgent situation for the mage to trinket, also he feels comfortable he has range). Mage trinkets, shadow dance, shadow step and cheapshot him. Mage sees you stepped him, so he blinks the cheap. After you did that cheapshot, you're going to preparation to reset step's cooldown and step him again into a full kidney (often will find premed is juuuust coming off cd at this point, make sure to use it before kidneyshotting else you'll only have 3cb from that dance step cheap. If you're unsure if you'll have it available, just sap him at the start and use premed so it goes on cd and wait a few seconds before opening, it will guarantee it's off cd when you need it). He now has no block (even with cold snap he has hypothermia), no trinket and no blink all while sat in a full shadowdanced kidney from a rogue in full PvE gear. Basically he's dead. Even if he rebarriered on your opener and you didn't drop him to half health it doesn't really matter with your damage output whilst he's unable to act. If he popped pet at some point and novas you while you're dancing or you get frostbitten, you're going to have to use that vanish from the 2nd prep to break it, but that means you're going to lose your dance bar, so make sure you've got ambush and kidney bound outside of dance bar (I assume you have kidney bound outside of dance, but you're currently now on your stealth bar, just make sure you have it usable whilst this is active). As a sidenote here, if you use 2nd vanish to break a pet nova/frostbite after you dance step cheapshotted him, and you then shadowstep his blink, do NOT throw in a cheeky ambush before kidneyshotting even though you're in stealth, just kidney him from stealth and go into ambush evis spam (in case anyone wasn't aware, that's how you burst in dance. Ambush evis, ambush evis. Gives energy back from Relentless Strikes so you can do more damage. If you just spam ambush you're going to run out of energy and then just auto for 5 years whilst you pool, use an ambush once you finally reach 40 energy, then wait another 5 years). If you throw in that ambush from stealth before kidneyshotting, the mage can do something like turn to face you and then you kidney and don't have his back (you'll break his barrier and shattered barrier will nova you). He could also deep you here and now you got no cds. Frostbite can also proc and ruin your day. GG, all because you couldn't wait those few extra seconds to damage him. Kidney from stealth lets you be behind him 100% of the time ready for your burst in shadowdance, even with shattered barrier/frostbite proc, so just forfeit the maximum-value mindset you have with your cds and see vanish as a gnome racial in this scenario. You've got more than enough damage to kill him with dance up after kidneyshotting, so don't get greedy. Just hold out those extra few seconds before going for damage. This of course can go many ways and it doesn't guarantee you're going to win, but that's the general premise of a strat. For example he can pop mirrors during cloak and put another barrier up rather than blocking, meaning there's no clear run later. Or he could deep freeze your vanish at the start of the duel when you saw he had a fingers proc, which makes it a double-whammy of losing damage and now you're on the ropes rather than him. This is just one of those duels which can go a lot of ways, but this is just one way to beat them. You'll often find that the fundamentals of dueling mages revolve around the premise of using a certain ability to make them use theirs to exhaust their defensives (block, trinket, blink) and then catch them in a stun, often with a prepped shadowstep. The order of this often changes, like you could shadowdance to force a block for example and then use cloak to force a blink perhaps, the order changes around a lot, but the premise is the same. I just tend to find the strat I mentioned is the most consistent method. As a sidenote, if they deepfreeze and poly you, it's pretty effective to use trinket as he uses the poly and then go for more pressure, since even if he does a snap deep or re-pollies you, it's such a short duration on each before you're then going to be back on top of him again that it barely does anything. Then you can try going for a kill before DRs come back up. I've seen one rogue do this and then vanish step ambush every nova, just going for raw damage to force their cds before using cloak and dance later. Hope you or anyone else may find this helpful. If anyone else has any strats regarding this feel free to chime in as I'm sure there's more out there.

I open FM with the standard max dmg opener, premed cheap shot eviscerate dance ambush kidney ambush eviscerate ambush ambush, it's normally enough if I don't get a kill, or he pops defensives and manages to run i'd restealth and wait for his mirror image to expire not allowing him to drink with distract, normally the opener bates the first ice block, then when i restealth and prep i bait the second one, after that if he doesn't cancel block and try to freeze i can restealth easily, if he does try to freeze I'd blind and aim to restealth, but when i see him block I tend to sprint away to prevent frost nova, on the 3rd opener he's dead meat cos he has nothing left, most people don't get that duels are a battle of attrition.

vs frost mages I used to do something, I would prep and not use the combo points, then I would garrote and instantly kidney and dance, you can get some good damage in the opener, not saying it's a bullet proof tactic, but I won some duels this way

Also a trick against Priests: You should shadowstep sap them once their Weakened Soul debuff ends. Sap them three times so they can't use shield, open with cheap shot and start doing damage from there.

I run it with talents for Drain Life as a filler spell with Spirit over Haste for Immolation aura dmg, Mostly PvE Items with a bit of resil from pvp set. IDK why locks start duels vs rogues with Suc, i'd start with VW, absorb the initial burst, coil, fear summon succ and then it has a bigger chance of pulling a charm off, since most likely most rogues would trinket the fear.

You are good, some tactics do not work against people who have 2k + duels, but these are still great tactics to start learning as a rogue, and I have to admit you are great at making your videos clear to everyone. But what about frost mages? I agree that this is a rather difficult pvp, but nevertheless it is so interesting and it is this fight that teaches you how to give your cooldowns correctly, and it is not impossible for sure. I made a little video where I duel with a mage who had 15k duels. I was completely in the starter gear like the mage, and yet I won a total of 5 duels with 9 (only recorded a few). And this was not the best magician with whom I fought yet. And I will say from my own experience that with an equal item, the chances are almost equal for both, 50-50. I'm not trying to say you're bad, I love your videos and wish you the best of luck with that. I just want to say that mages are actually killed in the sub rogue :) (if you want proof just go to my channel and watch "Starter rogue vs frost mage some pvp")

Yes, sure bro i agree with everything you said. Im far away from good rogue i just make videos for youtube and play all classes, so i never had time to master 1 class... i play wow only for youtube videos, so i dont really have time to do something beside making videos. Yeah, i will check the video, rogue is specific class and people love to master it.I rarely win duels against guys who have more than 3k duels, which is normal because i come to character play it for 6-7 days and make video and i sont play it till next time (5+ months) haha. But i can say that i learn really fast when i duel someone better than me, but god.. frost mages made almost break the keyboard

I just weatched your video, it is really awesome. I saw one rogue opening with Ambush and i tried and did pretty well, but in that time i was already on end with nerves so i quit. Btw i know this guy he play Frost and Fire talent. Second duel you used Cloak and Shadowdance without forcing his Iceblock, which every good mage would counter easily. Third is your win.Fourth duel wtf was that, you landed full Kidney and he was standing in place?(why not Blink), after that he used Iceblock and you were waiting to Gauge him.. i mean he is the one who dictates when he will leave the Iceblock, and turn around call pet istant freeze dp>poly gg(you were out of vanish). I mean he is rarly using pwt at all?

Good duels, but you should stop spamming umbush when you have 5 combo point always use evicerate it deals more dmg and gives you 25 energy back which means more dmg as well.

How to beat frost mage Here’s a good strat I use on my 2v2 partner when dueling. we are 2200 rated in wotlk classc. I found the most efficient way to get high skill mages to burn CDs is open with Ambush, cloak and spam ambush evisc until they block or blink, if you’re not doing enough damage (or they side run to not give u their back)to get them to block or blink hit cheap shot before shadow dance expires, that will 90-100% cause the blink. Shadow step kidney after that gets block. Then you blind, they trinket, vanish prep shadow step cheapshot and it’s over. If they don’t trinket the last blind save shadowstep and open with ambush, you’ll get stuck in frost nova, vanish shadowstep ambush eviscerate. Gotta be quick before he puts his ice barrier back on.. and FYI if at any time in this fight you are able to kick the mage while he is casting a FROST spell, he can’t ice block or nova and you just won.
