She was also our guidance counselor and everyday after school, I would practice spelling words with her because she was grooming me for the National Spelling Bee...I won @ school.. then city...but I lost at state(it was down to me and one last person)...and I misspelled a word...I was so sad and crying but she cheered me up... didn't get a chance to take a pic with her but I did spend nights at her house and remember when her husband gave me $1 for the spelling bee...I thought I rich! We did lose touch over the years, but back in 2000 I saw her on TV a lot, so I decided to look her up in the phone book and her # was actually listed! I called her and explained who I was and she remembered me immediately...I was so excited and honored at the same time...we talked about this and that...it was phenomenal! .
