Whether he whistled or not (which I don’t think he did, or he did it because of his stutter) she did lie about him grabbing her by the waist and asking her out. In an 2008 interview she said that, that didn’t happen at all. She needs to be charged, period. I don’t flipping care if he pulled her by her hair, nothing he did justifies what happend to him.

Mamie Till will forever be a hero in my book , an incredible lady , she turned her anger, fear and despair into a movement and a teaching lesson for the world , what happened to Emmitt will forever haunt me to my soul , that little boy didn’t deserve what happened to him , makes me sick to my stomach , Carolyn Bryant needs to be thrown in jail I don’t care how old she is now , she started this all and his family deserves some sort of justice. I'm from Jackson Mississippi with roots in Yazoo. Spent summers there in younger years. Was very different than Jackson. Still is I saw after going there for a funeral a couple of years ago. I was born in 1975 and lived in Mississippi until 1989. I honestly can say I never felt like I had to act differently around white people. My parents and grandparents have a certain history there that influences how they view the world. But I just didn't experience that in the 80's. But I was mostly around my people. My elementary school was all black, other than a couple of teachers. But I never acted any different around white people nor was I taught to act differently. I am so happy the world changed. We have come far, despite what people try to say.

No matter the reason for the whistle, those men killed a boy who was still a child. That they got away with it is deeply sickening. It was interesting to hear his cousin tell what happened. The accounts I read lead me to believe this happened INSIDE the store with no witnesses. Those poor kids knew immediately that hellfire was coming. I’m sure they were absolutely terrified. I don't mean to offend anybody by mentioning this comparison but its something that I never understood. The Jews in Europe suffered genocide at the hands of the Nazi's for 12 years resulting in World War 2. After WW2 when the world caught wind of the inhumane actions took against the Jews during the Holocaust. The world came together and pathed a road towards the existence of Israel. So basically what I'm saying is, for the 12 years of suffering that the Jews endured they received a WHOLE COUNTRY. Africans were sold into slavery to American colonists around 1492 and this lasted until around 1865. So close to 400 years total and 89 of them years were under the Established United States of America. When the world found out about the evil treatment to slaves and the fact that they were not even considered as human beings, the world did nothing. When looking at these two evil historical events side by side, (The Jews killed during the Holocaust which last 12 years & a estimated 6 million Jews murdered) & then ( Africans sold into slavery, losing all human rights which lasted 400 years & a estimated 60 million + Africans Murdered) How can anybody say that the world's reaction & outcomes to the two separate evil travesties is fair or even in the same ballpark as fair! *___(((___The Jews suffered 12 years, lost 6 million people and the outcome was that the world basically gave them a country (Israel)___)))___* - *___(((___Africans were sold into slavery & suffered for 400 years, lost an estimated 60 million + people and the world ignored this and from the USA they received the thirteenth amendment and was released into a society that was mainly prejudice & hated them.___)))___ How is this justice? & How come nobody ever talks about this Modern Day Comparison ? (American Intermediary) I think that maybe waving African American's home property tax for four hundred years would be a good start to reparations ! (Israel wouldn't exist without the west's intervention, TRUE or False ? Who beside Jews benefited from Israel becoming a country?) (African slaves in the USA were not even treated with the decency or even with recognition that they were human beings in the USA for 400 years. When slaves were freed in the USA they were told good luck. GOOD LUCK catching up to the rest of society financially, GOOD LUCK catching up with the rest of society community wise, GOOD LUCK finding employment with the very little education and skills that slave owners allowed to them while held in slavery, GOOD LUCK SURVIVING IN AMERICA!

@@jrsmith1998 It is not a "compliment". It's degrading. Half the time it's married men doing it. I've had it happen when I was freaking 14-15 years old by men 3 times my age. Once when I was 18 we had city workers working outside our home..they did the pathetic wolf whistle crap when I came home. About 45 minutes later one of them needed to go in our basement to check something, on his way out I was cooking at the stove and he slid his hand into my shorts and copped a feel. I screamed bloody murder for my mom. He was arrested and I'm pretty sure his wife was not very happy. I find the whistling crap just about as bad as groping. Boy this is really a sad case, like others have said nothing this young boy did deserved for him to be murdered. While watching the ABC special I'm felt so hurt as a mom, knowing that his mom really didn't want him to go, but he wanted to so bad. she had to let him grow up and be responsible. She tried her best to tell him how things were down south and how it was completely different from Chicago but he was a kid. I'm sure he was just being a child if he did whistle at the lady and didn't think the worst could happen to him. I saw another comment that said they wished he told his grandfather and I did too. However, I know they would have retaliated in some way. I hate he went down south, I hate he went to that store, I hate that white people are so cruel, I hate Mami never got to see her child again 😢 I hate it all 💔
