"Looks radical, we won't get that much flow" Re your 'over-matched' gasket, LOVE it!! I'm still a n00b here so carb-work is actually still something to learn (and parts of the crankshaft, I basically just do top-end rebuilds jug/piston/upper crankcase), but for the exhaust-side that's precisely what I do I aim for maybe 5% 'over-ported' gaskets to ensure no choke-points when it's mounted/mated to the jug), do you have a recommended material to use for DIY custom-cut gaskets? I have every type of grinder I just don't know where/what to buy for 'generic gasket material' for base gaskets & muff gaskets, I have been lucky with the former in that I've made-use of what I've gotten w/ the saws (IE sanding-to-size the OEM gaskets), but for muff-gaskets honestly I'm usually just ditching the OEM and replacing it with a custom-cut sheet of aluminum that acts as heat-shield in addition to being my muffler-gasket (for instance my 660 clones, I hate how poorly-cooled their jugs are, so I cut the top-covers' fronts a bit so the muff can breathe better *and* have a giant aluminum plate separating them from the jug, this plate is 1-and-the-same with my 'muffler gasket'), I like this method for my big saws and even if it doesn't seal beyond 99% it seems the leaks at gaskets "plug themselves" (presumably crud & carbon buildup) over time, actually I suspect such 'plugging' throughout the engine is part of "break-in gains", anyways for my smaller ones like my 2511t or 355t I need gasket materials and aluminum-sheeting isn't going to cut it, they need something "with give" so I can really 'press it in' when bolting it down, any tips here would be hugely appreciated (makes me think I should also go swap all relevant screws w/ the types that have those lil slits on the undersides of their heads, that makes them bite-down better when fully seated....ever since getting into high displacement powersaws 90cc and >100cc I'm seeing just how insanely tight everything truly needs to be, am using loctite red where able but unsure what to use when the loctite doesn't "go off" which is often enough, or when it's a metal bolt into plastic, would love to know what you use here! Have been using lil dabs of my Motoseal to "get by" til I figure out something more optimal!!) Thanks again for posting this series, can't believe no other comments it's not like this is a new series...thanks a million I'll probably watch this series a half dozen times to really absorb all you're putting across, honestly I know most of it already but just hearing how others think is so valuable here IMO (the chainsaw-tuning arena is, as you know, VERY 'behind' as far as engine-work goes, perhaps they're one of the least-advanced engine-types that are modded on earth, wouldn't shock me lol, the norm of tuners here is still "put a ginormous hole into the muffler's outer wall, this solves ever.y.thang!1!" lol)
