I made this serie out of love for the murgese horse and I hope it will help to create awarness to this important horse heritage from southern italy. In this episode I am visiting the Altopiano delle Murge. Italian for "Murge plateau". It is a karst topographic plateau of rectangular shape in southern Italy, Puglia. I visit Castel del Monte that was built during the 1240s by King Frederick II. He chose the rocky Murge plateau to breed war horses because it would develop strong horses with hard hoofs and tendons.
Who am I?
I am an Dutch-Italian Grand Prix dressage rider, equestrian instructor and Equine behavioral therapist. My mother is born in Rome, but comes from an old Neapolitan family and my father is from Utrecht, netherlands. I am the first rider in de world who rode a Murgese horse to the Grand Prix dressage and succesfully competed at the highest level of the sport. I saddle broke and shooled approved Murgese stallion Carletto. I bought him in Puglia in 2012. Carletto is an excellent breeding stallion and available with frozen semen in the EU and the United Kingdom. For information mail info@superguus.com
