My water pump froze on me; I looked in my Chilton book and the instructions make it seem easy enough for a first timer. Was I ever wrong!! I KZbin'd and found your videos... what a blessing!! couldn't have done it without it. Thanks for taking the time and have subscribed in order to keep my 88 Nissan D21 going. Brakes are next. Thanks Will.

Great series of videos dude! I am a rehab contractor and not too savy on working on cars. Recently I was given a 1996 Nissan Quest with about 176k miles in exchange for work on a clients house. A mechanic friend suggested that the timing belt be replaced. He said it would run about $600. With your videos though, I feel confident I can do it myself and save a bunch of money. Love the videos!

Great videos you are doing. getting ready to do this on My 94 nissan 4x4 370,000 needs a little maintenance now. Parts are all original on eng. Runs great same rotors just changed pads 2nd time, did clutch at 150k.now throw out bearing making a little noise. Getting 18 to 20 mpg most the time avg. Original owner. Lifetime oil changes may have saved this truck. Garage kept so looks new on outside too. I wish my 2003 powerstroke 6.0 was this easy to work on. Thanks again

Very nice videos! I am getting ready to do the timing belt, water pump and tensioner on a 97 Villager. Pretty similar 3.0L The only pain will be working from the side of the sideways mounted engine :( Probably enough room to get in there and do the job. Going to replace the thermostat as well while I'm in there. Going to set the pulley to TDC on the compression stroke, hopefully the marks will line up as they should. The belt I believe is original with 160K on it, and there is some noise coming from that area. I did find out that the Ford (Mercury) version if this engine is designed to freewheel, so there is no damage if the belt did break. Freewheling/ non interference engine. I heard the actual Nissan engines are not freewheeling and piston / valve damage can occur if the belt broke. At least for the 1997 year. THANKS again for the great video!! You have a new subscriber!!

Good videos as always! Thank you for taking the time to make these. I know I sure do appreciate the time/effort that goes into putting these videos on youtube. Loved the series on the 5.7 chevy vortec - helped me out quite a bit when I replaced my lower manifold gaskets on my silverado. Keep up the great work!

You should have a donation option as well to subscribing, I am a novice tech that still wants to know what I am getting myself into before taking a swim. I know all of these DIY guys would not mind donating to help pay for these vehicle specific how to videos. I did subscribe btw.

Thank you great video. Now I'm confident I can do mine. Do you have a video showing how to replace outer bearing to the rear axle, my oil seal is leaking, so now it's leaking oil on my brake shoes.

How easy was it to replace? Thinking of doing the same to mine, just bought it with 129,000 miles and the oil looked like it was 3 years old but engine didn't burn any oil and the auto transmissions was in good shape but it had no hydraulic fluid but the thing was still running xD. Always wanted one but didn't think it would make a good first car, found one for $500 and took the gamble. Hope I don't end up ruining it before I actually fix it.

Robinson, excellent performance. I'm not mechanically incline but what I saw was interesting and educational. One question... I'd just bought a used 94 Nissan Quest (207k miles) that seems to run great but the check engine light goes on once-in-a-while. It's the end of summer and I just noticed that the heater fluctuates between heat and no heat. Would that be the thermostat - or Heaven forbid, the heater core? I hadn't driven it much since I'd bought it (200 miles) so I'm getting familiar with it, although I love this vehicle. Can you tell me what the problem might be so that when I take it in repairs, I'll know what I might have to expect? TIA

No AC on this one? I’m trying to get a 95 back in shape and it’s missing some idler pulleys I believe?

Pretty good video, but order you reinstalled covers not clear. I think the bottom goes on first. Also, you didn't make clear the crank bolt torking and the amount of foot lbs. needed.

Hey bud, really enjoyed your videos. I have installed my timing belt 3 times in past week. Something seems to be off. Since engine lacks power and is sucking up instead of exhaust out the exhaust pipes. It's a 91 d21 nissan v6 engine. Do you have any idea what is going on, I was sure all 3 times that all timing marks are lining up. And engine on tdc.
@maxsanchez23395 жыл бұрын
Did you put the crank pulley to tdc before taking it off?

Will this process guarantee correct timing? Ive changed my water pump and now motor has a miss. ive also changed all spark plugs. Havent looked at it in some time now but I don't recall messing with the timing belt.

do you have to put the alternator belt and connect all the hoses or can you try turning it on with just the timing belt only
@robinsonsauto8 жыл бұрын
You can for a short period of time, however Thats a grey area if you know what I mean

ok thanks alot
@cadillacdude19758 жыл бұрын
when i changed my belt, after i had the marks lined up and the belt tight, i started the engine and let it run for about 30 seconds just to make sure it was gonna run before i put it all back together LOL i wouldnt let one run for more than that without the alt and water pump connected. that is part the grey area.

How meny miles does it need to be changed I 130000 on mine
@cadillacdude19758 жыл бұрын
the round tooth timing belts have a different interval than the square toothed ones. but at 130000, it should have been changed at least twice. maybe 3 times depending on the year of the vehicle.
