You are THE MAN my dude!!!!! I was actually kinda nervous to disassemble this planer I had just bought 2nd hand. But only after it earned the nickname "Ole Sparky" the first time I fired her up. I struggled to find anything showing how to disassemble.. I knew it would be very simple but I feared I would open the wrong compartment and a midget would jump out and be loose running around my house...again. I'm happy to say no midgets were harmed during my teardown!!...So far... Thanks for making the video!

Thanks Jeff! I'm glad the series is/will be helpful in getting yours going again. Anything you might need to know should be buried in the series somewhere. Hope your project goes well. Good luck, G.

I have a 25-year old Delta bench top planer and you helped me with my repair. I was about ready to spend $600 on a new planer. It's May 23, 2020. You are helping people 6 years after uploading your videos. Thank you for the generous sharing of your time and knowledge.

Bought a used one at a farm auction. Have to replace the cutting blades. Man, your videos are so complete. I don't think I have the ability to do everything like what you have done. You are a amazing guy. Thanks for showing the complete disassembly and assembly.

Thanks Richard! Hope yours serves you well. If you do need to do any work to it, the videos should cover all you would need to know. Take care, G.

I really appreciate this video series. The planer that landed on me is a Model 22-560 but very much the same as yours. One blade holder and blade is missing and three of the machine screws are broken off in the cutter, but I now have checked things and the rest of the machine needs cleaning but appears to be worth the effort. The blade appear to be available online and I'm sure I can make a copy of the blade holder from the one that is here. Your video series has given me the confidence to get started. Thank you.

Appreciate this video. I had bearings go bad this morning and I’m under the gun. I live in a small town where you can’t even buy a new thickness planer if your life depended on it. So my equipment goes down and I have to fix it. This video helped me get through it a lot faster, plus I happened to have those bearings on hand. Thanks a million!

Watching with interest - mine shook itself apart. After planing I found a big nut and the pulley key (that tiny little rectangle of metal) in the sawdust. I too bought this at a yard-sale. Can't wait to rebuild it because it truly is an engineering marvel.

Thanks Pete. I hope the series helps you get yours going again. You might use a bit of blue thread locker on that nut when you go back together. Good luck, G.

Great videos. I took my delta planer apart tonight. The pulley on the end of the motor is not pressed in, it is a left hand thread. I also thought it was pressed in so I started to pull it with a 3 jaw puller and it came loose. Thankful it wasn’t damaged. I ended up replacing all of the bearings in the entire machine.

I had to disassemble the motor to replace the bearings. In the process, I discovered that the pulley is reverse threaded onto the shaft, and not pressed on as one might expect. The other end of the shaft has 2 flats for an open-end wrench to fit on. Then grasp the pulley with the gripper of your choice (just not on the pulley grooves - grip it further down on the unproved sleeve if using something with teeth) and tighten to loosen. I let mine soak in penetrating oil for a couple of days first and it came right off.

Great info Kevin! I'm sure it will help others out- and possibly me in the future. Thanks! G.

The 'front pulley' is not press fitted on. It is in fact screwed on. (Informed by certified tech) I was surprised too ...

James Mutter That is surprising James! Thanks for letting me know. If I ever need to change the bearings, it will keep me from destroying it...lol. Take care, G.

Have watched the first 3 parts and I appreciate the detail of your presentation. I have one of these machines about 15 years+ old. It started to vary cutting depth when the vibration of the machine made the depth adjustment handle turn and change the cut as it was running. I stopped using it and want to start up again. Have you any suggestion for stabilizing cutting depth. thanks.

Thanks Ed! I would first ensure you're using sharp blades. Past that, the only thing I can think of would be to use shaft collars on the posts. It would require them to be moved and locked down after each pass. Here's a picture of a quick release type. You can also get some that require tools. You might be able to adjust them with the sides on, or you might have to run without the sides. Someone else may have a better idea, but this is all I can think of. Hope this helps, G. www.ruland.com/ps_collars_shaft_qcl.asp

Did your washer that came out of the fan end of your motor look all mangled and bent?
@ghostses9 жыл бұрын
It's a wavy washer so it will look a little odd but that's the way they should be. It shouldn't be mangled though. G.

Any idea how to remove that pulley and those two brush holders. i know the brush holders have set screw but removing those doesn't seem to release them.
@ghostses6 жыл бұрын
I looked at a parts breakdown, and it looks like the holders slide out after removing the setscrews. There is a tab that the wire is attached to- perhaps they're holding you up? Here's a link to what it looks like. www.ereplacementparts.com/brush-holder-p-87136.html That's all I know about them since I never tried to take mine out. The pulley appears to be threaded on the shaft. By the rotation of the motor, I would guess they're left handed threads. I would try to get the armature in a vise between two blocks of wood, and use a strap wrench to try to get the pulley off. Here's a link to the armature where you can see the treads on the end of the armature. Hope this helps, G. www.ereplacementparts.com/armature-assembly-p-89294.html

Anyone know a good part number for the motor bearings? SKS or NTN? I haven't torn into mine yet to see if there are any numbers
@ghostses8 жыл бұрын
+Tuplin 86 Sorry, I don't. If you do locate them, please feedback with the numbers as it might help others out. Good luck, G.

+ghostses I certainly will. Thank you for the videos by the way. I was searching for bearing numbers everywhere. And I came across your videos. My fist thought was, oh man... I have to sit through this to see is he mentions the numbers. Lol. But to be honest, I enjoyed every minute of all 9. Cheers.

Having issues with the rollers. I took the whole thing apart and im still having issues with it feeding through. I have to push the wood through.
@ghostses5 жыл бұрын
Adam, the first thing to try would be to wax the tables. Johnson paste was would do fine. Past that, I would ensure you got the springs under the rollers in the right places. They are two different lengths. If you have to go that far, make sure the rollers are also clean. I used 50-50 Simple Green to water to clean mine and a stiff brush. Also, make sure you're not trying to take too deep of a cut. Other than that, I really don't know. Hope this helps, G.
