select the grass ground object and go to the object properties. Open visibility, and ray visibility. Uncheck the diffuse and glossy. You can do this for the grass hill object in the background too.

I'm having an issue at 12:09 where, when I try to select the first (original) bunch of grass to duplicate to make the 3rd bunch, it automatically selects the both bunches already created and i cant find a way to just select the one. As of right now when i go to duplicate it duplicates both that are already there. How can i make it just select the one I want? Also i'm currently using blender version 4.1.1 in case that helps/is relevant. Thanks in advance.
@luci_annihilates6 ай бұрын
well i think i figured out why this happened to me...i guess i hit Alt D the first time instead of Shift D. I just now Ctrl-Z'd until the second grass bunch was gone and tried Shift-D and it works fine for me now. Didn't even realize i hit alt, ill need to pay more attention lol.

Hello Ryan, wonderful tutorial series! I made it, but the stones and the grass don't want to go where I want them! I played around for a long time! Is there maybe another solution?outside,ha ha! I want more grass and stones in the picture, but they're running everywhere! I tried to select in edit mode with L and do it individually in a better place. But it only shows the tarpaulin to see. Also, what is not in the picture maybe much better to delete so that there are fewer polygons to render. Do you have any idea what I need do? What would be more important on the street is the flowers move individually !!! hug.

Hi Ryan.... not sure what I'm doing wrong in this particular tutorial. Had a few issues when creating the grass but have overcome all of those but I cannot fathom for the life of me what i'm doing wrong regarding the weight painting. Have done it several times to the letter and each time i do the grass, the weight paint doesn't seem to have any affect on the grass when adding Group in the Density on Vertex Groups. Rocks are fine. The grass remains on all the areas that i painted solid blue and no amount of playing with the seed or count is resolving it though you can see physical changes when adjusting. I appreciate this tutorial is 3 years old and blender may have made some changes but I can't imagine anything major has been done to change this functionality. Any suggestions other try and recover an older backup of my file and go again with this section? Happy to send you screenshots of anything you need (even my blender file to deconstruct) as I'd love to know what I've done wrong.
@garyward37966 ай бұрын
Hmmm - what i have noticed is that this seems to be related to the scale and the fact there are 4 objects re Grass that I have had to move to fit them on the plane properly. If i tone the Hair length down to 2m and then take the scale right down it looks as though none of the objects originate from areas within the blue paint area... but because there are multiple objects linked (did i link them incorrectly or create the objects incorrectly?) because of this, as you scale, it seems to shift them into areas I don't want them.
@garyward37966 ай бұрын
Yep.... lol.... omg what a fun journey - so because the way the objects were shifting on scale.... basically, using a much much larger paint area seems to have resolved my issue. Glad I got there in the end :)

Hey Ryan love the Tutorial! Question, I cannot find a random color node or random RGB node to generate random colors for the grass. Is it possible I need to enable an addon? or does it have a new name in a recent update? Thanks! Keep up the good work!
@iamhozaayy7284 Жыл бұрын
The name of the node is Object info - This node allows you to randomize the color from the color ramp

When i am trying to create a particle system called grass and then chose Hairy > collection> Grass. It add the grass and I am able to rotate it as well but the grass particles are coming way up the plane. How to ground them is what I am not able to do

hello, your advice about cloth brush was right, it is in blender 2.91, but i found another problem that i dont know how to fix nor find it on youtube, so i came to ask you >} when i sculpt in blender and use remash i got some weird results. it looks like if you use wireframe modifier on the object, but this is more uncommon and doesn't follow vertexes, it usually looks like flow and have spirals in it , when it is going to happen it usually that a lot of time to use remash, so if you know how to fix it, that would be really great >}
@RyanKingArt3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, sorry, I've never had that problem before. Maybe check to make sure that all of the modifiers are applied before going into sculpt mode. You could make a post about your problem, on the Blender Stack Exchange, and hopefully someone can help you.

hello why my stuffs not placed on top of a plane but they are in the middle of it? does it have to do with origin point or something? thanks. I'm not sure that's the correct way to fix ..

Hmm, I'm not sure. That isn't supposed to happen. Maybe try using Geometry nodes to distribute objects instead of the particle system.

@@RyanKingArt I added an imgur link for reference. Think that was the issue. I fixed the weight paint problem (for the grass) but another issue is that the particle spawns underneath the plane as well, which doesn't look good, and bits of the grass from the ones underneath the plane show through the top. Don't know how to fix this. I have tried redoing the particles by just selecting the top of the plane, which didn't change anything.

WARNING: I have now watched over 3 hours of Ryan King's Blender tutorials and I do not yet have a solid idea how I could execute a simple project on Blender. There are hundreds of "modes" to navigate which are complex, deeply layered and non-intuitive, and most functions do not work unless you are navigating those modes. I have followed his direction word for word and the functions did not work. He races through dozens of commands and often fails to show critical commands without which nothing works. In Blender, to do even simple tasks, you have to go into hidden functions that you would never guess that you need or know where to find. Many of the functions, if you can find them at all, have labels that have nothing to do with what that function does. This Blender design is purely technical, and not designed in a way that any artist has ever thought or worked. Geeks cannot use this if they are not artistic, and artists cannot use it if they are not extremely technically oriented. So, while the price is very appealing, you get what you pay for. It is very sad because the programmers who created Blender, before they wrote their code, could have spent five minutes talking to any decent artist and they would have known they were creating a disaster, a program that few people in the world will ever master. But these programmers obviously did not consult any artist for five seconds, and Blender is a perfect example of what a mess you will create if you do not consult the users while developing the design.
