Part A: Basic working of 4017 | Cascade and make 25 LED chaser circuit

In this video, I've explained the method to Cascade more than one CD4017B Decade Counter. I've also explained the basic working and functions of all the pin of this IC. I hope you like this video.
In this video, I've used
Decode counter BC4017B
AND GATE sn7408 (You can also use BC4081)
Timer IC NE555N
and
25LEDs

Pin description of BC4017B:
Power pins:
16= +Vcc
8= GND
Control pins:
15=Reset
14=Clock input
13=Clock enable
Output Pins:
1 to 7 and 9 to 11
pin 12 is an output pin and it divides the input frequency by 10, output will have a 50% duty cycle.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you plan to used the CD4081 IC, note the two IC’s have DIFFERENT pin outs. Print out pinout diagrams for both IC’s to ensure proper wiring.

Excellent video and explanation. I am trying a variation of your theory for a roulette wheel circuit that requires 17 LEDs. Problem I am encountering is lights do not randomly ever stop on the lights of the second 4017. Roulette circuit works fine with 10 LEDs. Not sure what I am missing. Hi Guys and Gals. I have rigged up my breadboard as per video. I am powering it from a 9v battery with a 460 ohm resistor. On initial application of power the first LED illuminates as per video, however when I ground pins 13 and 15 and press switch, nothing happens. Any ideas? PS. Around 7-52 on video. Thanks, David.

This helped so much but now I need to make a chaser circuit but much brighter! I want to use 12v 5w LEDs. I was planning to reduce to 5v for the timer and counters and use 25 MOSFET to power each 12v LED. It seems a bit excessive in components, what do you think? Is there a simpler way that I'm missing? 12v and 5w. So per LED needs 416mA (W = VI). You can use IC ULN2003. It supplies 500mA (600mA peak) per output. It has 7 output. So you need just 4 pcs of the ic for 25 LED. According to me, I think this is the easiest way to reduce the components.
