Jean, I appreciate so much that you take the time to do such a thorough step by step tutorial. Thank you! But really, all of your quilting videos are like that….very thorough and I always learn so many new tips from you! ❤ I really liked that you cut away the intersecting seam under the window to reduce the bulk. What a great idea! I am thinking of making this into a lap quilt for my niece. Since this pillow is 20” roughly, I thought of increasing the size to 40”-60” across and 60” down. So would I just keep adding squares across and then add the rows down? I think I remember you saying that’s how you did your big queen sized quilt (which is beautiful, by the way). Oh, and I meant to ask how long did it take you to make your queen sized quilt?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Yes, just keep adding squares! My quilt measures about 72 x 80 not quite a queen but I got tired and stopped!! LOL! But it is a good 'topper' on our queen guest bed:)

Hello Jean, looking for a beginner hexagon table runner or easy pillow for beginners. Enjoy watching you and seeing your videos. Do you also have beginner tutorials?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching my videos Debbie! Most of my tutorial I gear towards beginners however this pillow (my cathedral windows one), I made a video on how I actually put it together after I constructed the top. You don't need to have a complicated top or back to make a pretty pillow. If you follow the directions on that video, you will see how you can make an easy pillow just using two pretty fabrics for the front and back with the envelope style closure on the back. I have never made a hexagon runner...to my mind hexis' are NOT easy!! :)

@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory 5 жыл бұрын
You could absolutely use the whole charm square ~ you would just have fewer blocks, the 'circle/turnings' on the front would be much larger and you would have to adjust the size of the 'picture' to fit the 'folded/on/diagonal/squares'. Thank you Donna:)

Hi Jean. Love your tutorials. On the quilt you appear to have a unique binding. Do you have a tutorial for that?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Leslie! The binding on my quilt is just my regular old binding! LOL! I do a 2 1/4" binding, stitched to the back, turned over to the front, machined down. If you look at my "Playlist" under 'Jean's Block Party 2018", you will see, towards the end, my binding of my finished quilt, and I show how I did it!

Hi Jean! I think I'm going to try this with my enormous stash. Do you have the fabric requirements for the larger quilt you made?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory 5 жыл бұрын
Fabric requirements.....hmmmmmmm.......can we just say TONS AND TONS AND TONS!! LOL! Seriously...I bought 15 yards of white muslin (90 inches wide) for my white squares on my quilt....used it ALL!! And countless charm packs and scraps for the 'pictures'. I purchased about 15 ~ 2/3 yard pieces of the polka dot...used almost all (and added more dots from my stash). If you look up the TRADITIONAL muslin way of hand piecing a Cathedral Windows, you will see a full size quilt calls for 30 yards of muslin........not for the faint of heart!! :) But SOOOO effective when done:)
