Hi Lynne, hope you and your family are well. I would like too than you again for guiding me step-by-step on my first bag I made .... I love your video and I didn't have to invest in a pattern for me to discover bag making. My best bag ever was from your video, I sold a few and was very proud, I couldn't have done it without you. A huge thank you Lynne. To this day I cannot follow a pattern, you spoiled me ! LOL Keep safe. Cindi from Canada

Hi. Just want to let you know that I deeply appreciate the effort, details and tricks on all your tutorials. I had learned so many new little things that give such professional finish touch; I have finished about 4 different items from different tutorials and results are impressive. People love them. Again thank you so much for the knowledge that you share. In the middle of writing the measures and details, help me out to really be more assured, understandable and allowed me to use my creativity to change measurements or the look of any of the models.

I have to make a comment on this, I absolutely love your template for the corners I had not ever seen that done and I have watched many many videos on bag making. YOURS is the best thank you I can not get the corners the same size when you try it the other way by folding it seam to seam and making a mark and sewing never worked for me,I started cutting out a square but I never knew to measure from seam I was measuring from edges. I will be making mine today with my Dollar Tree opaque cutting mat I use for template making it works great for fussy cutting a design and you can even use a sharpie on it for info. I watched so many of your videos this weekend I think I am in overload LOL Please continue to make more would love to have a demo for a baby changing pad to go with the diaper bag. I am making yours today, it looks like exactly what I am looking for, will try to figure out a changing pad, but you are such a great teacher and take your time to teach us so can we can understand. I am thankful for that. I am a visual learner and I can not read a pattern I am dyslexic and it is just too confusing to even try. I have sewn for almost 60 years and all just by doing but this new wave of Ytube has taught me so much. I Also can't watch the ytube videos that add music to their videos some would be so awesome but it just distracts my brain with the continuous music while they are talking, ruins a great video. If people are having trouble hearing they can turn on the CC and it will put the words on the screen just a thought. But my son put an amplifier thingy not sure what it is called, on my computer to hear videos there are many Ytube videos with low volume

Thanks Lynne. What would you say the dimensions of a standard overnight/travel bag are. I have bought some gorgeous upholstery fabric with a calligraphic motif and thought a weekender bag would be great. Obviously it will need a large base. Do you have a tutorial for such a bag? Hello Brenda. Not made a video of any over nighters yet. But I think a good cut out size would be 22 wide. No bigger . Height should be 15" and your gussets should be 8"... Now your cut out for the gussets are only 4 ". You can make it a soft beach bag type? Or use heavy interfacings with some foam to make sure it stands on it own... but not really needed, cause you will be filling it. Enjoy good luck. God Bless, Lynne

I want to make this bag. You did a great job explaining how it's done. I was wondering tho....about the gusset thing. Could I just flatten out the bottom corners (so that the side seam is in the middle, do you know what I'm saying?) and then just cut off the corner 1 1/2 inches in? I've seen it done that way in other videos but not sure it would give the same results. Thank you.

Hey Lynne. Hope u r well. Can u tell me how you work out how much to sell your bags for Please? Thanks. Brenda, London UK x
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne5 жыл бұрын
Great Question.... I generally look at what it's worth to me. What would I pay for it. I have a tenancy to give things away. Also what are others selling their things for? I'm a teacher and have more experience, so I may be a bit more. But not much. I also look at my quality. I felt a ladies strap on her bag the other day, and it was just fabric, no interfacing... I always add interfacing and you can feel the difference. Well that costs more to make and time to make it. So I usually get what I'm asking. Thanks for your question. Enjoy . Lynne

I'm getting ready to cut fabric to make me one of these purses and I'm totally confused on your pocket measurements. What you say and what you put on the screen don't seem to add up with the first initial measurements you gave of the outer panels. I wanted to add the two-inch accents but don't know how big they need to be I'm assuming 13in across but the first pocket you said cut a strip 9 inches and then at a strip to in and then another strip 2 inches that would be 13 in up and down so I'm assuming the finished size of the pocket before you fold it in half is 13 x 13?
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne6 жыл бұрын
so cut your focal fabric to be 9" up and down, add 2" of accent then another 2" of focal fabric. This may make it a bit taller than 12" due to your seam allowance so go ahead and cut to be 12" in height and 13" across. Thanks :))

If I have a bag with a 4-inch gusset how big or how wide should my zipper panels be? Is there a trick to figuring out the measurements depending on how big of gussets you make?
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne6 жыл бұрын
It's not really a big issue... many bags have a pouch type zipper closure with 6" gussets.... so if i had to guess, I'm going to say your zipper is one inch... so make your panels, (finished ) 2" wide... because you will eat up some of the zipper when you sew it in. make sense? have fun... you will learn tons all on your own. I am so discourage trying to make this bag I don't know how anything else can go wrong. aside from cutting pieces out wrong sizes and now the interfacing just does not stick to my 100% cotton fabric. it says use damp cloth and steam I've tried and tried and yes the glue is on the wrong side of fabric. so far I've only tried the light weight fusible no woven interfacing. What is wrong please?
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne6 жыл бұрын
Hello Janet. First off this video is one that has to be carefully watched to get the cut out sizes right... I'm sorry about that. The interfacing is one that I do not follow the directions on the package. I don't like to tell folks that because the company says to. I just Iron the fabric onto the interfacing. Glue side of interfacing onto wrong side of fabric , but I iron the cotton side. No steam. Lightly press. Don't hold iron onto fabric but a second or two. Hope this goes better for you... Lynne
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne6 жыл бұрын
I do the same with the heavier weight interfacing... I always iron on the cotton side. But this one I need to press with a hot iron for a little bit... 5 seconds ? Give the glue time to attach...

Just find a piece of square cardboard, measure out a 1 " corner and cut it out, Then a 1.5" corner and so on for all four corners. I even made a second on with bigger cutouts. Remember your 1" cut out equals 2" gussets and so on. Hope this helps, >L ynne

how do you determine what size gusset to use?
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne7 жыл бұрын
Hello Annette, I pretty much just think about a balance of what I'm going to use the bag for and how much space is really needed . The more bags I make the better I got with the size of the gusset... xoxo

Hard to hear the video. All others I watched were audible. Nice bag though.

I don't like the straps and I don't like the zipper hanging over the side of the bag.
