Part two, will the tractor start

The battery is knackered on the John deere as I switched the tractor off. It would not start again. The 4x4 tried a phew time's, and nothing .

I used to have the exact same problem on my Indian motorcycle in the winter. It was a 1200 with the most miniscule compartment for the battery. If the battery was just slightly under it wouldn't start it. It was a VTwin so it was needing to move too big 600cc cylinders and it just wouldn't do it. Left me stranded a couple of times so it got sold for the BMW I have now which is 100 x better. It also has a charging port so easy charge up. Bring back the old machines that had a decompression valve on them and you could switch that on for starting and still charge with a half cock battery !

How big an engine is the John Deere ? I suppose a diesel is harder to start than a petrol due to the higher compression needed as well. Just needs a really good battery I suppose.
