Nice video. Did you use a classic rod like Garrison or Payne or Leonard, etc., as your inspiration for basic design? And then you adjusted that taper for your personal requirements? Thank you.

Thank you for watching! Yamame trout and char, which are the main target fish in Japan, are smaller than rainbow trout, so I started by searching for a new taper that would suit them. At first, I made a rod that was useless, but through trial and error, I believe I was able to create a rod with an action that suited the Japanese field. It might have been easier to find the ideal taper if I had adjusted it based on a classic rod!

@@yuuhikoOK. Thanks very much for the reply. I like your design idea: use first principles. Also, nice casting. Looking forward to your next video.

At 1:48 you hold up a book and mention "according to Ron Kuse..". Assume you are referring to Ron Kuse, rod maker from Catskill NY, formerly from HL Leonard.? What book did he write or contribute to?

Thank you for your question. The book is a compilation of interviews conducted by a Japanese writer with bamboo rod builders in the United States. In addition to Ron Kusse, he also interviewed legendary builders such as Bob Summers, Marc Aroner, Walt Carpenter, Glenn Brackett, etc. I think it is a valuable book that conveys their personalities.
