Music & vocals by Farya Faraji. The Epic Iranian Series is a musical project where the sounds of modern Iranian music are used as a musical framing device for themes pertaining to the history of the Iranian civilisation. The lyrics heard here are in the Parthian language, and are derived from historical Manichean texts. The pronunciation and text are based on the research of the channel Hu Vaxsh, with a more in depth description of the lyrics in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXbOfIB3eMmIl8k The instrumentation consists of modern Iranian instruments, namely the daf, tombak, tambour, santoor and tar. The rythmic structure of the piece is 5/16, a somewhat rare and anomalous time signature in most world music, and one of the rarest rhythmical forms of modern Iranian music, found in some folk tunes across the country. Parthian Lyrics: Tu man ay kxwadāy, Yazadān abardum, Wuzurgān kxwadāy, To arzhan ay istawishn, ud āfrin, Yāwed o to Istāwām amāh, Hāwsār it ne ast, pas garw baghift, Ambāy o to ne ast, Roshnift ay che man, Im um yāwār dahāh, pusāg wuzurg paryozhan, Um xwād dastdhar bawāh English translation: You are my God, The Highest and the Greatest of All, You are worthy of praise and hail, Always we praise you, There is no one like you among all, There is no one equal to you, You are our light, This time, give me the crown of Victory, And be my friend yourself.

Thank you very much Farya jan. Actually I think Parthian (Arsacid) dynasty was really underrated. They deserve alot of respect. Long Live Iran-Shahr!
@Niklas.the.13th.2 күн бұрын
I believe one of the reasons why the Parthians were underrated is because the Iranians themselves didn't know much about them. For example, in the Shahnameh, very little is told about them, and the Sassanids either emerged their works into their own or neglected them whole. It's the same case about the Medians and the Achaemenids. In Persian literature, we have myths about them, but their actual history was preserved by the Greeks and western Iranologists and Persophiles. And we really came to learn about them in the 20th century. Also, during the Parthian era, the empire was called Āriyānxšaθr.

Funnily enough I'm currently working on a short film that takes place largely in the Parthian Empire (under Phraates V)! I was also wondering if you took commissions for soundtracks, I play a little bit of Tanbour but I think that the project would be made a lot better if this part was left up to KZbin's leading expert on duduk free Iranian music. (also I completely understand if you don't, seeing by your upload schedule I can tell your super busy :) )

I speak some Urdu which absorbed a good amount of vocabulary from Farsi, and it's really cool to be able to identity some words that are similar enough as to be recognizable to words that I assume people still use in modern Iranian languages today even though Parthian hasn't been spoken for over a thousand years. Thank you for making music like this and letting us see some small threads of the past still available to us in the fabric of today.
