this talk is very much in line with the story of the fall of man. when man ate of the fruit they were away of their nakedness. this is the distinction between the point of "maturity" between infant, child and adult. This can be argued however that this is a product of conditioning to some degree as many indigenous tribes are unaware of nakedness and an association with shame.

This is a great discussion, and I have to say psychology, whether in regards to Freud or even earlier back to Nietzsche is incredibly fascinating. Though Nietzsche himself called psychology if I'm not mistaken, a vice.
