Particle Advection Shockwave Part III: Creating Fluid-Like Effects with Geometry Nodes in Blender
In this third part of the Particle Advection Shockwave series, we’re taking particle simulations to a whole new level by exploring a different shape-a sphere-to project particles in all directions. This approach, while similar in setup to previous methods, introduces exciting new look development options and techniques for fluid-like simulations.
We’ll start by revisiting some foundational steps, but with a fresh twist. During the look development phase, I'll show you how to enhance your particle materials by adding transmission to give them a bubble-like appearance. Lighting also plays a crucial role in bringing these particles to life, and I’ll explain how positioning the light behind the object can help illuminate transparent materials effectively.
Next, we dive into brand-new territory: converting particles from points into volumes and then using Geometry Nodes to transform these volumes into a mesh. This process results in a fluid-like appearance through particles, giving your scene a dynamic, liquid feel. Achieving the right look requires some experimentation.
By the end of this video, you’ll have the skills to create your own custom fluid setups using particle advection and Geometry Nodes, expanding your Blender workflow even further.

This is amazing and gets absolutely fantastic results. So if you wanted to do the same effect, but mesh the particles to look like a liquid, how would you do that with geometry nodes?

If you jump toward the end of the video you will find that part where I show how to turn the particles into a mesh.
