This video is for a new user with little to no experience using simulation groups. The lesson is a basic demonstration of how grouping particles works.

It's a really straight to the point, informative tutorial, which i really appreciate! I have alway wondered about the placement of the particle group operator. Does it always go at the top and group everything below it or does it simply group everything within the event of which it sits?
@lanceculver
@lanceculver Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that, I really appreciate your comment. The operator will place the particles in the event into the specified group, rather at top or bottom. Of course, if its placed beneath a property test for example, or an operator that sends particles out to another event, those particles grouping will not be changed. Thanks again!

Very helpful, thank you very much! I have one question, is it possible to influence one particle to affect another particle as you did in this tutorial? Is it possible to make each particle gather to the particle closest to it? I would appreciate any node that can give me some hints.

Hey, thanks for your comment! Yes, it is certainly possible to influence one particle to affect another. Not sure exactly what you’re looking for, but you could add a set target, change target to proximity, and then choose absolute closest. If you have sim groups set up, make sure to select the appropriate group. Then add find target, choose particle target, change channel to target. This will set each particles target as the absolute closest particle, and then the find target will have each particle move towards their respective target. Again, not sure if this is what you’re looking for, so give it a shot and let me know what you come up with. Thanks again!

@@lanceculver Thanks for the reply! Sorry, I still can't seem to reproduce what you taught me, but I was really happy to hear back from you. I will try to do a little more!

@@user-ff5by9xw9w Here is a link to a quick example of using set target and find target as I mentioned earlier, but again not sure if this is what you're looking for. Each particle targets the next closest particle and each are attracted to their target particle. This is a 3ds Max 2023 file, have a look at it and let me know if it helps. drive.google.com/file/d/1g_OmGQ8IlC1eqkGwB-b23eIDOQBGwoCa/view?usp=sharing

@@lanceculver Thank you so much for taking the trouble to provide us with a sample. I am sorry, but I am using the 2022 version of 3dsmax and tyflow was also using the beta version, so I could not open the data you prepared for me. I know this is a very generous request, but if I give you the data, will you be able to see it?

I like your tutorials, but the background music is too lousy which gets me distracted whenever i watch them. So, I give up.

Sorry about that, my computer is super loud, the background noise is pretty bad so I play the music to try to hide it. I’ll work on getting my audio situation resolved, and appreciate your input. Thanks for watching.
